Wherever money is the least objective for getting elected, the elections are open for any citizen to run, are overseen by opposing parties, regulated in a reasonable manner and are not held by a despot or influenced by illegal registrations.

My response to your question is that Democracy,is not a thing but a
means to an end, which originated in Greece. In its simplest and only form,
it means rule by a majority without and any restrictions or limitations.
The following would be an example of Democracy in action:
If a majority of people in any country were to approve of a Law that
authorized the killing of all people with blue eyes,as a means of solving
the problems of unemployment, the volume of automobiles cluttering the
highways,and the environment,that would be extreme example,but
nonetheless,it would be Democracy in action.

Democracy sort of works in the Switzerland where people can initiate a referendum and abolish or make a law.
Everywhere else it is just a 2 big party system where you need 2 things to get elected 1) money 2) media support
Those who provide these are those who rule - usually over both 2 big parties that just switch regularly.
Founding Fathers hated democracy which is not mentioned in Constitution or Declaration of Independence.
