Obama has passed his first security threat with flying colors?
The media keeps crowing about how well Obama has handled his first security threat. I do not criticize the way the hostage situation was handled but.....as a national security threat wouldn't "flying colors" have been to counter the threat before it became a hostage situation? its not like the pirates just magically appeared when they attacked this ship.
And as for this being his first threat what about all of the bloodshed and kidnappings going on along the American side of our southern border? Are the pirates just the first threat he hasn't ignored?
O'really since they pirates still hold over 200 hostages and over a dozen ships I don't think the score is Obama 4 pirates 0
Oldstyle - this was not a new or unforseen situation this ship was like the 66th taken this year.....maybe you need to "get real"

obama did nothing...if the captain hadn't jumped out of the boat we would still be "negotiating" with the pirates....i think the capt. felt he would have to save himself, rather than be used by the obama admin. as a "proving ground" for the presidents foreign policy...

Obama was a lawyer and served on congress so he obviously not that big of a threat compared to the rest of the men and women in the senate and congress. Or for that matter any worse than the Bush family ties and criminals they have pardoned. And McCain was a POW during Vietnam so how do you know he never sold out to save his own skin? It is so funny how the news can flip and turn things to portray what they want. So what Obama's middle name isHusseinn many men (arab and christian) have that name but people blow it out ofproportionn. It isobviouss that you have no idea nor understand what you are talking about so refrain from posting ignorant and bias questions on here.

This isn't Obama's first security threat... that was Guantanamo... He failed at that one, now those terrorists are going to be brought into the US, and given all the rights a citizen of this country are given. They didn't earn those rights, and shouldn't be given.
This last instance is just another "present" vote from Obama. There are even people who are criticizing Bush because Bush didn't go in and take care of the problem... they are the same people who would crucify him if he did.

Honestly I don't see how this constitutes a threat to National Security. I am happy that he met the situation with appropriate use of force when required, but the security of the nation hardly hinges on such a small issue overall.

That is nowhere near a security threat. A few "pirates" holding one American hostage is not a National security threat. Why did it take six days to point a few sniper rifles at those "Pirates"? Taking so long gave them legitimacy, the problem will only get worse now.

At least he didn't abandon the situation to go after pirates in another country who had oil.

not to mention.. obama didnt DO ANYTHING.. the head of the navy seals on that ship asked for permission a few times before it being granted the go ahead by Obama..
obama is trying to steal the light from the captain of that ship who should be the real hero.. if obama was bobbing on that navy ship thats one thing

I'm an Obama supporter, but I don't think the pirates constituted a security threat.

Perhaps you haven't heard of "Posse Comitatus". I know, Bush ignored it, but it's still the law.
