My dog going to be HUGE?
I have 2 Chocolate Lab Puppys....but if you were to look at them you may not think they were young as they are, and our male looks full grown already except he still has some baby teeth. They are both 5 1/2 months old, and brother and sister. Our female weighs 50 pounds already, and our big "meathead" male weighs 70 pounds already, and he isnt fat at all, he is stocky and full muscle. He is solid. Is this basically mean he is going to be one of the HUGE 120-150 pound labs? Im worried this guy will eat me out of house and home!! Also he dosent relize how large he is, and tries to be a lap dog. It isnt too terrible if he trys it on me or my husband who are both experianced with labs, but we have a 18 month old and 3 year old daughters and are afraid he may try to be nice but actually hurt them with his size. We are constantly doing training, and he is slowly getting better, but he still has his "puppy" moments
Ah...yea thanks for the unwanted critisizm. I grew up around labs my whole life as well as my husband, we are very familier with Labradors. But this male is just unusually big compared to what we are use to
I DO NOT plan on getting rid of these dogs unless these dogs attack my kids unprovoked. These dogs were not ment for our kids, they were ment for my husband who has been wanting a lab for sometime.
The dogs get along great with the kids. My 3 year old can use our female as a pillow and she just lays there and enjoys herself. I am more worried about their puppy instinct to constantly jump up and the sheer size compared to my kids.,
Yes I am sure they are full labs. The only case we have ever known was my husbands dog when he was a small kid, he had a 120-150 pound solid muscle chocolate lab. Otherwise our male now is bigger than anything we are use to seeing.

Don't worry I too have two male chocloate labs! They are bolth brothers and my now 9 year old dogs are not fat but wiegh 120lbs in the winter but in the summer wiegh 90-100lbs, Zipper is more muscley and barrle chested and feels as though he ways more like 100 but he wieght that when he was around 1-2 years old, your dog might not be Huge but big like around 80lbs or so when he is full grown, I love big dogs.

Labs aren't small dogs. We had 2 at one time and because there were 2, one had to be the boss. Well one ended up weighing close to 120, while the other was bout 90lbs. Both were males. They should be close to full grown when they are almost a year old. I hate it when people get a puppy for their kids and then the puppy outgrows their kids... It's sad. I hope you don't get rid of them.

You can't. A dog will only be as large as genetics allow. The Husky is not a huge breed, and therefore cannot be made huge. If they wanted a giant dog, they should have got a giant breed. Do not attempt to alter this dog's growth. Not only will it not work, but it could also cause a lot of health problems down the road.

I think the introduction to your child should always be a constant thing. Our dog was a little crazy with our kids and the funny thing is that our daughter now uses her as a pillow. Labs are great with kids and in time generally bond deeply with them. You have had labs as you say so maybe a certain eating schedule may be needed to help keep the grocery bills down.

Are you sure these are full blooded labs and not a mix. They are getting close to the maximum size they should be when fully grown. Most dogs have reached their adult size at about 6 months old and from there until about age one just fill out and mature, so I wouldn't expect this dog to almost double in weight or size.

of course some will be bigger than others. Its in their genes. I have a chocolate lab too(: he is 70 pounds too and he is 6 1/2 months old.

I have three Great Pyrenees. They eat about 40lbs of kibble every 10days to 2wks plus table scraps and all the goat milk they want.
Labs can be a bit more playful and hyper than pyrs, so I wouldn't leave them with the little ones unless you can supervise. My pyrs sleep most of the time, but one likes to lay on the bed when nobody is watching.
One of my big dogs can also open the door to let herself and the others out, so you might watch out for that with yours.

male dogs are always bigger than the female, you should have researched this before hand.
