The patch represents the late owner John H. McConnell who passed away in 2008

He brought the jackets to columbus and did alot for the community and provided jobs for people there, when he was really sick he would still go to games, he passed away and almost every team in the columbus area also wears the patch to honor him

As LITY described, JHM is for John H McConnel who is the reason for the Jackets coming to Columbus. He passed away last year.
