Its not walking pneumonia...is it?

i'm recovering from the flu. today i notice when i sneeze i get this pain in my back just above the shoulder blades. it feels like thousands of needles then it condenses on the spine. i was told it could be walking pneumonia. it doesn't hurt when i cough (the coughs are rare), only when i sneeze. it seems more like a muscle pain. its happened 3 times today and i'm trying to avoid sneezing by blowing out my nose when i feel a tickle coming on. that's not pneumonia, is it?

No it's not pneumonia. You'd be showing more symptoms. In other words you'd be a lot sicker than you are. Even "walking pneumonia".

What you do have is a muscle strain. Probably an intercostal muscle in your back near the spine. Another possibility is you could have an irritation of a nerve that comes off your spine. This could happen with a sneeze because it's sudden and you may not be in a good position. It just pulls things the wrong way. If it continues your doctor would probably want to check it out. Especially if it gets worse. Like the pain radiates in any direction.

    God bless.

Oh yeah I meant to mention that you can stop a sneeze anytime by pressing hard between your upper lip and nose, right on that vertical indentation(whatever they call it). Use your index finger. It always works for me. There's some nerve there that stops it.

You can only be sure by having rays taken! Better safe than sorry!
