How much did you pay for your wedding jewelry?

A friend of mine is going to a Bridal Expo and was just wondering if there were any good deals at them for jewelry? She is looking to see how much other people spent on their wedding day ensemble including a tiara (if you bought one). She is looking to purchase a necklace, earrings, tiara, bracelet and possibly necklaces for her bridesmaids. Also, if you could give her a general guideline for where you are located just to see price ranges. Any info would be greatly appreciated either on how much you spent or if you found good deals at a Bridal Expo.

Thanks!

Update:

I am not the one giving thumbs down. I want people's honest opinions and that's one of the reasons that I asked where people are located.

I have not seen great deals at bridal expos for jewelry in particular.....usually it's a percentage off I believe if you purchase/order there for the most part.

I made my wedding jewelry for me and my maids - which started my own business http://www.bonitaj.com./ We offer a lot of different sets and earrings, bracelets and necklaces. We carry over 145 crystal colors and over 30 pearl color choices - so it's a bit easier to try and match the bridesmaids dresses and wedding colors with the jewelry.

We always run sales - but if you sign up for our mailing list - you get a one time coupon for 20% off of your entire order.

If this helps - I will too be doing some bridal expos in the future and plan to offer discounts for purchasing items or ordering items at the show itself.

I am from Upstate NY - but my site is online only - we deliver world wide.

I didn't go to a bridal Expo but I spent about $10 on necklace, bracelet and earrings. I made all my own jewelry. I went to a craft store and got some glass and freshwater pearls and Swarovski crystals.

I also made my bridesmaids a necklace and earrings for about $7 a person.

I actually got my pearl and diamond necklace and pearl earrings for about $400 total and went to jewelry stores when they were having sales or going out of business promotions, etc. I got a crystal tennis bracelet from Swarovski for about $100 and I also got my bridal party their gifts from Swarovski - spending about $125 each. Lastly, I got my headpiece from Michael's for like $20 bucks - a good deal!

So total spent on me about $525 - but all stuff I can wear for the rest of my life (except the headpiece, which is why I didn't spend much on it).

Also, it was really important to me that the bridemaids have something they could use and wear again and not just to my wedding.

Never buy at a Bridal Expo. Prices are over-inflated.

That said-my husband and I shopped and bought a trio set of rings. My engagement and wedding band together was originally priced at $1400 and his wedding band was $600. We waited two weeks to purchase the rings because the clerk told us about a "Billion Dollar Jewelry Sale" coming up and we ended up saving 50% plus another 20% off that because we used our store credit card to buy. (Then paid them off totally when the bill came). Total spent on all three rings was about $800. For wedding day jewelry, he wore a tie clip that he already owned that I had given him earlier in the relationship and I wore a gold cross necklace that my teen aged sons had given me. I also wore diamond earrings that my fiance/hubby had given me earlier in our relationship.

I bought a very nice tricolor gold bracelet for my matron of honor to wear (also at a great sale) for $29.

Lesson learned-don't buy the first thing you see, at the first place you visit. Take your time and shop around and you can find great deals.

My fiance spent just over $10k on my engagement ring, and he spent about $2400 on my wedding band. We spent $100 on his ring (we got a really good deal) and I bought him a watch as a wedding gift about $1200. So all together about $13,700 (give or take a few bucks) ... Wow I never added it together before, I didn't realize we spent that much. That's okay though I will wear it everyday for the rest of my life and so will he!

i was given a choice between a brand new Subaru WRX impreza for $30,000 or a big a$$ diamond. i chose the car and got a $1000 ring as well. im happy with it, i think thats all you need to start off with.

also check out the estate jewelry stores, you can get big awesome rings for a fraction of what they cost.

Above me....$24,000 FOR A RING??!? Wow, what i could do with that money...wedding aside.

My entire wedding is going to cost $2,000..including rings, rentals, cake, everything!!
