Rap vs. Rock? Which is preferable?

no doubt its rock...

rap talks senseless and materialistic things which they are too conceited of having such, when in fact, no one cares if they have their money...cars...blings watever...

while rock talks of emotions, feelings and senseful thoughts...

Quite obviously, ROCK is preferable.

Especially Heavy Metal :P.

Because

1) Anyone can be a rapper. You just need a repetitive beat and some random lyrics that are 'catchy'.

2) Good Rock is a genre that needs rather talented people to play it.

I like Rock the most but I also like some Rap-Metal like Body Count etc. and some Nu-Metal with some rapping, or some Dark/Heavy Hip-Hop.

I use to listen to Rap back in my elementary/high school days but nowadays I prefer Rock over Rap because rap artist these days talks about nonsense like materialistic things, sex with women, etc... which starts to get annoying and where is the soul and meaning to their songs? Is that all rap artist care about is cars, bling, and sex???

ROCK!! Because at least with rock or rock sub-genres the lyrics are at least 70% of the time meaningful, in Rap the lyrics are about 2% of the time meaningful.

I love both! Rock because it talks about real life things most of the time, Rap because i love the beats and dancing to it!

Since you're asking this in the rock section, rock will win. If you ask this in the rap section, rap (or crap) would win.

As for me, pure rock n' roll. I love it!

What about bands like Rage against the Machine and Linkin Park that mix the 2 together.

Also listen to P.O.S. he is a rapper with rock influences who is very good.

Rock! They are musicians which means you have to play a musical instrument. There is also something to be said for those who write their own songs and not just buy someone else's stuff and sing it. Just my opinion.
