LAN not working on reformatted PC?
I recently reformatted my PC (Windows XP Pro, SP2), and now the LAN drivers aren't there. I'm not sure if I can still find my motherboard installers. what can I do?
well okay, it's not really my PC. a local university auctioned old PC's on an as-is, where-is basis, so there's no documentation whatsoever. plus, it's not a desktop bought from a manufacturer - they bought parts and assembled it themselves.
i haven't tried opening the system box as i don't have a screwdriver right now (i'll get one tomorrow), but will i be able to find the motherboard's model when i do get to open it?

You could do what they all said, but if that all fails you, then the easiest thing to do would be to go buy a PCI Ethernet Card or NIC (Network Interface Card). They're relatively cheap and it will come with a driver CD. That would be you best bet if you can't find the driver for the one you have online. Hope this helps you, Good Luck!

There are several things that you can do: Go to the manufacturer of your computer's web site and download the LAN drivers.
- Go to the manufacturer of your motherboard's web site.
Don't forget to update your computer - especially with installing Service pack 3 for XP.
