If i modify child support and i don't have a job will it go up or down?

Unless you take the father back to court the child support will most likely stay the same. Even though he may hold a job making lesser than the first job he held when child support was ordered he still has the potential to make the same amount of money. If the father wants to pay less money in child support he will have to go back to court asking for child support to be reduced since his wages are less. Child support is usually reviewed by the Attorney General every 2 - 3 yrs. and usually doesn't change for the better unless the father gets a substantial raise in pay. I admit $200 a month is not near enough money to support your child. Basically, without taking the father back to court, all you can do is have the Attorney General review his earnings. Just be kind to the father because if you are from the state of Texas your child at the age of 12 yrs. can decide she wants to live with the father and then the tables could turn and you have to pay support. Child support is based on the paying parent's salary, not yours.

If he makes more then 9 years ago, it will go up.

If he makes less, it will go down.

The fact you are unemployed will not make you get more money. You are responsible to get yourself a job, he isn't responsible to pay more because you don't have one. It's base on what the paying parent EARNS, nothing else.

well is he making the same amount of money as when it was ordered, or more or less? this is what will determine it. If he has a better paying job now you will get more, it should be a percentage they deduct from each check.

It will probably go up, But then they may question why you don't have a job and make you get one saying that you aren't making an effort to support the child. That happend to my friends mother.
