Computer ??...Asus motherboards: Does a LGA775 socket mean any m/b with this?

I have a pentium 4 LGA775 socket...I want to upgrade my motherboard to the ASUS P5Q range...does this mean i can choose a m/b within the LGA775 socket range on the ASUS website

    LGA775 means the type of socket the CPU or process goes into. Like the old Slot 1 or A process that had to stand on it’s side in the motherboard. As long as the motherboard is a LGA775 socket you can use your current processor in your old board. So, the answer would be yes.

    If you want to continue using your old Pentium 4 CPU, you will need to buy a LGA775 socket mobo.

    The LGA775 socket fits the following:

    Pentium 4

    Pentium D (netburst)

    Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad (as well as the Extreme variants)

    If you plan to upgrade your CPU to any of these, LGA775 is what you should be getting.

    Yes but you should take it a step farther and after you think you have found a MB that you want do some research, some reviews etc., on that MB+processor combo. Although a processor and mb have the same socket they do not always work well together, or at least dont work as well as other combination. Some overclocking sights may have some reviews and those are usually good because they are usually experienced power users.

    yes, as long as the motherboard supports your processor socket, then it should be fine.

    if your changing only your motherboard then see to that your processor supports your new motherboard, you can have any motherboard which fits your processor..
