What are some tips on going vegetarian when I eat kind of a lot of meat?

I saw this video last night:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aeJfY5CXTM0

And it made me cry. Seriously.

I now want to be a vegetarian, but I eat meat so much, like I woke up this morning and without thinking made myself a sausage biscuit.

What can I do to make meat NOT a part of my diet?

Thanks!

I am 14 by the way.

Don't feel bad if you accidentally eat meat or if you give in every once in awhile, because the important thing is to keep trying and eat as little meat as possible.

I love fake meat- it's good to have fake meat products in your freezer for when you are really hungry and just want something filling an easy.

Get some morning star or bocca veggie burgers, breakfast sausage, or chicken nuggets. There's a brand called Qu'orn that makes amazing chicken nuggets and patties out of mushroom protein.

There are also great recipes for making your own imitation meat: like this meatball recipe: http://dairyfreecooking.about.com/od/vegetarianent...

(you can substitute regular flour for the gluten-free flour)

    A good go-to meal is a tofu veggie stir-fry.

Just cut up some pieces of tofu and vegetables like onions, carrots, broccoli, anything you like and heat it in oil in a pan, and eat it when the onions get clear and the veggies are as soft as want. as soon as the tough veggies get soft, you can add mushrooms and veggies that cook quickly. You can serve this over rice or pasta or just eat by itself, and adding soy sauce gives it a lot of flavor.

Oh another thing I love is barbecue tofu- just pan-sear the tofu and then heat it in a saucepan full of bbq sauce-- it so delicious!

Also drink vanilla soymilk! It's so yummy and can help take the edge off your hunger while you cook, so you don't just start eating meat the second you are hungry. And it doesn't come from abused cows!

Thankfully you have a conscious, when I saw slaughterhouse videos I became a vegetarian and realised how ignorant people are who say I didn't kill it, that's like dating a pedophile and saying I didn't rape children let him/her do what they enjoy :) so I'll tell you the first 3 months are the hardest and you'll feel weak but please don't give up or even go to once a week meat for 2 weeks then onto none it's hard but worth it as vegetarian food is healthier and all those retards who say 'go chew on a twig' or 'you eat animals food' throw a branch at them and tell them that we can survive without meat but we'll die without fruit and vegetables :) good luck x

I changed nearly 50 years ago and it was a bummer eating out as I either got offered the vegetables or at best an omelette. Now virtually all restaurants (but not pubs) offer a vegetarian selection. Asian restaurants are best but you have to explain to Chinese ones that you don't eat seafood or prawns ! An Indian restaurant is my second home where I live but Lebanese comes second. Sydney and other capital cities have a huge selection these days but small country towns might have a problem still.

for most people becoming a vegetarian is not an overnight thing. You need to eliminate meat slowly from your diet and find foods that can provide the nutrition that you were getting from meat. it may also be wise to talk to your doctor about it because you are still growing and need certain nutrients.

In the beginning, you can start by replacing meat with imitation meats. That way, you have the same taste and you don't really have to change the types of things you eat. Then gradually, try making new recipes and eating less processed foods.

I started out a vegetarian eating a lot of imitation meats, and am now a vegan who eats very little processed food. It isn't exactly healthy to be eating a ton of processed foods, so remember that doing that is a *transition* while you find different healthy food, not a way of eating for a long period of time.

I stopped eating meat when I was ten years old. Make sure you take vitamins daily. Especially ones high in iron. You will also what to eat foods high in protein.

Eat lots of fruit. I love fruit when I stopped eating meat I slowly replaced meat with my favorite fruits and my favorite vegetables.

I also eat lots of breads I love bread. You can try tofu, its an acquired taste but it takes good. Also when wanting to eat a hamburger eat a veggie burger, they taste SO good.

There is nothing wrong with be vegetarian. It's a healthy life style. I wish you look with it!
