Is my mission a good mission for life?
Okay, well my mission in life is to experience true happiness.
But, since I will never know what true happiness is, or if/when I have experienced it, my mission is never-ending.
So my life would be a never-ending mission to find true joy.
What do you think of it?
Are there any major flaws?
Oh, yes, of course, I wont actively be searching for happiness. It is just something I will try to accomplish. Because to be happy, I must make others happy. And for me to be happy, my loved ones must be happy as well. So I figure that finding true happiness will also bring happiness to others.
And I mean just genuine happiness. That could come through finding my true love, or many other possibilities.

In my experience, true happiness is achieved by having some kind of purpose in one's life, and often accomplished by minimalist living while doing things that benefit others.
Too often people mistake temporary gratification with true happiness, and so become pleasure seekers... but the reason they have to keep seeking more and more extreme pleasures, is that they fail to comprehend that real happiness starts with satisfaction. And satisfaction is rarely gained through selfish pursuits. Sometimes one may expereince moments of extreme pleasure from that, but never real lasting happiness. ( it's funny to me, that most of my more self indulgent friends and contacts are the ones who are constantly the least happy. )
I learned over the years to appreciate the simple things, and to slow down in life. I also spend a lot of my time in community work. And what I have noticed, is that despite having Autism, and severe anxiety issues, in general I am very content and happy.
I contrast that to 15 years ago, when I was constantly, as you described it "actively seeking" happiness.... and was seldom ever happy.
I see know real downside to your mission, and really the only flaws would be in the execution. As long as you don't trap yourself into the mentallity that Play and "toys" and money and recreation = happiness, I think you will be ok.

Hey Nightlife :-)
It's a very good mission. Happiness is subjective, so only you can tell if you've actually found it. The only thing is, I'd say not to go consciously searching for it, because you'll always be looking for something better and you'll never be happy.
True happiness normally sneaks up on people, just take things as they come and you'll be fine. Optimism plays a big part in this particular mission too, so keep an open mind...

It is true what Dude said, everything has a flaw. And it is a good philosophy. It is also true, that your life will be a never ending mission. But sometimes you can find/have true happiness and not know it/lose it. So i'd say don't search to hard, or you might miss the "big picture"

I think most of us are on that mission. I guess True Happiness is different to everyone. Someone who is looking for Love as their life mission can end up being truly happy .
I like your Philosophy on this.
I think everything has a flaw

Hawkwind is epic, great band from what I've heard of them. I'd like to be a Two Time Olympic Gold Medalist for Greco-Roman wrestling.

The only flaw I see is that happiness and joy come from within the self. so your search will be one of self discovery and that is in fact a never ending experience, It begins with loving oneself without becoming egotistical or narcissistic.

I think happiness is a side effect, and to make it the goal is self-defeating. So yeah... I think you've got the right idea ~ by bringing joy to the lives of others... as they say, you cannot keep from having it shine on you as well.

We all strive for "happiness" (or at least contentment) - for who wants to be in the dumps all the time. This may truly be your path - or a "higher" one may make itself known to you. Be aware - that all things begin within oneself. Whatever the goal - live each day to the fullest. Peace ♥

You will know happiness once you found it.
But what exactly do you mean by "true" happiness? Like romantic love?

That sounds like an awesome thing to aim for. I guess it's what we all want, in the end. =)
