Brett Favre? Out of retirement again?

I am not a Packers or Jets fan, but respect the guy for what he has accomplished in the NFL. But why must we go through this same thing every year, where he waits until the last minute to come back out of retirement. Enough is enough. He is only making a hall of fame career look bad. What are your thoughts?

Update:

And for those who do not know what I am talking about, they just reported on ESPN that he is in talks with the Vikings!

I agree completely. Nobody remembers him for his accomplishments anymore. He's remembered as the guy who doesn't know whether he wants to retire or not. It's a shame, he's had a great career, but all of that stuff is no secondary to this annual soap opera that goes on. I imagine this will continue every year until he either is hurt too badly to actually play again, or the media just shuts the hell up about it. If Favre screams "I want to come back!" and everybody else finally says, "So what?" I somehow don't think it would matter as much to him anymore. Stay retired Brett, you won't win a super bowl again.

Let him do what he wants. If he thinks that he can still play and help the Vikings then I don't see why he shouldn't be able to. I can only see an upside to this as a Vikings fan because he will be playing 11-16 games in indoor stadiums which should help his diminishing arm strength. He already knows the offense because of working with Offensive Coordinator Darrel Bevel and the playbook is basically the same as when he was with the Packers. With him under Center it should open up the run for Peterson as teams cannot keep 8 men in the box expecting just a run heavy Offense anymore. They can create a package of plays such as WR screens and quick slants similar to Steve Smith in Carolina with Percy Harvin. You don't think that Jackson or Sage could learn some things from this guy in a year? It will bring in a lot of money to the Vikings and could possibly help them get a new stadium. He hasn't officially signed the papers on retirement yet so I don't get why people keep saying hes in/out of retirement. In the past 2 seasons Favre has thrown 50 touchdowns. Sage and T-Jack have thrown 50 touchdowns combined in their careers. Plus Favre hasnt played with a Defense as good as the Vikings since the Reggie White days. PLUS.. you think Favre would have broke the news to ESPN's Trent Dilfer in a text message?

I can agree with you here. Favre is tarnishing his career at this point. Why not leave with your name and legacy in tact? What else is there to play for? He's already won a championship. He's already broken numerous records including the most interceptions amongst QB's. He's already been to the pro-bowl many times and has been named MVP more than once. He's cemented his name in the hall of fame based on his leadership and stats. What more does he want? I think this is ridiculous. Favre has nothing more to prove. If he wants to prove that he could still hold his own at his age, he's making himself look like a fool. Favre needs to call it quits, and sit back in his retirement money. The Vikings don't need him anyway. They can do just fine without him. The season with the Jets was a disaster. If he does come out of retirement, I will lose all respect for him.

I´m a BIG packers and brett favre fan.. But I feel bad every time I think about this situation... He could have retired in a great way after they lost to the giants 2 years ago... I don´t know if was that interception what keeps him bad, but I think, THE PACKERS were about to retire his number, in a nice ceremony against the VIKINGS... I don´t know why brett makes this against only one stupid dumbass (Ted Thompson) and throw away all his prestige with green bay... I think its an offense to all the Packers fans if he plays for the Vikings...

I think it's all Brett Favre style... If you've ever noticed Favre, when things are bad, they're really, really bad... When they're good, they're great. He has never really had a medium, it's always been one way or another... The guy's strong suite was never really grace and he is simple minded...

What happened last off season was really really bad and while I'm not trusting ESPN and their source who wont even state their name, I could see true Favre fashion in a very very bad MN comeback, though I would love to see MN against GB Favre at the helm for MN, and how lucky of me to live in GB and have that ability should that day come...

the season with the jets was a disaster due to poor play around him...the other players just gave up because favre was in a new system learning the ropes...a new set of teammates who made life hard for him...He had them starting out 8-3 for gods sake...oh and Eric Mangini...Yeah a gem of a coach he was...It wasnt favre's fault he lost that season...Now he doesnt have anything to prove...he is playing though 1 because he still loves the game and wants to play...2 he wants to get back at the pack...and the packers deserve it honestly...3 because he still thinks he can play and minnesota is a perfect fit for him...Im sick of people bashing favre...pull your head outta your ***es for a sec and just look at what he's done for the packers organization...and then he gets left in the cold after a 13-3 season and a questionable loss to the NYG...who in fact went on to beat the previously undefeated patriots...So you turn to Aaron Rodgers who could have sat another year...by the way i like Rodgers and think that he is the future of the pack...but his first season they go 6-10...had some close games...but rodgers couldnt finish in the 4th like favre could...I think Ted Thompson made the right move for the next 5 years you know...but we could have kept Favre for one more year...and I honestly believe the pack would have won the super bowl last year...period...This is just another reason why Ted Thompson needs to go...yes he is an amazing drafter...but he doesnt hit up free agency, and his relationship with the players is ****...so stop bashing favre...im buying my new number 4 vikings jersey

I think it's sad since his word means nothing now. He says one thing to the press then does the opposite. I remember when he said he would quit when he felt like he couldn't play at a high level. It was clear last season that his great days were far behind him and he wasn't playing at that level. Yet he wants to still play now. With his injuries I don't think he'll make the roster but at this point I don't care what he does. Which is sad.

Favre had to retire from the Jets to get to the Vikings- the team he wanted to go to in the first place, but evil Packer GM Ted Thompson blocked that move last year.

Favre is the greatest of all-time. Let him do what he wants!
