Question regarding Pit Bulls.?

This question was inspired by another pit bull question. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AnYhL...

When ever pit bull bans are mentioned people say "ban the owner". Obviously you can't ban people. My suggestion was charge a high tax / license fee on ownership with perhaps the dog needing to have a special tag visible. Any dog without the tag would be taken and the owner has to pay the high fine to get them back.

This is not a perfect solution and would make it a bit more difficult for good owners. But at least they could keep their dogs. I think it would eliminate at least some or maybe a lot of the people who have pits to make them selves feel macho or the people who want them for other illegal purposes.

Does anyone have any better solution than to just say "ban the owner"?

    Education is the best response. People need to know that these dogs are just as sweet as other dogs, and it's illegal fighting and poor breeding which leads to violent attacks. Remember - pits that attack humans are bad fight dogs, anyways. They train them to fight with each other. Banning these dogs in general does not, unfortunately, have any effect on illegal activities, rather it just keeps the homeless, sweet, or happy dogs out of good homes.

    It's important to get the word around about pits, because ignorance is what gets the animals hurt. I've seen unprecedented and undeserved violence towards pit bulls because someone expects that any animal of the breed will hurt any person it comes into contact with. That, I think, causes more damage than what people try to ban.

    dude we are already paying enough taxes for a bunch of other crap..our economy is falling apart and you want us to start paying for dog ownership. No. I should not have to suffer or pay to own a certain breed..

    Why couldnt you ban the owner? Ban them from owning pets, if they get caught with pets then make THEM pay a big fine, not all the responsible owners.

    in the end there is no solution, it will just keep going down hill and everyone will keep wanting to ban the breed or ban the owner. and since our society is to lazy to deal with the real problem (which is the owners) the bully breeds will become extinct because they will all be banned. Then they'll move onto labs and other breeds.

    I have a pit bull and she is the sweetest dog in the world just like any other breed. Pits just get a bad rep because people think that they are all mean and will fight. Any dog will be like that if you neglect them or treat them like crap, it doesn't matter the breed. If you treat your dog like crap and teach them to fight they are going to be rough. Pit bulls are so strong that they can cause damage easily and if they are treated horrible they aren't going to think twice about making sure they are safe. What is sad is that pit bulls taken from fighting circles can't even be rehabilitated and are almost always put to sleep. People need to learn how to care for these dogs and scumbags that breed this dog just to make money off of them should be locked away.

    No pit bulls are no longer to any extent further risky than the different canines yet while human beings like the only that enable his pit run loose makes all pits look undesirable. Pits are stroger than the different canines while human beings refuse to coach thier canines and save them up issues like what occurred to the little lady happens. the owner of the canines could be fined and put in penitentiary. All canines could nicely be risky, there could be regulations that handle risky canines no count the breed. I very own a pit he's definitely experienced and is often under administration yet so grew to become into the toy poodle I owned that is beinng a responable proprietor. In each and every significant case of pit bull attack it grew to become into via how the owner experienced, as for struggling with, or taken care of, abuse. The 4% of attackes that grew to become into no longer link to undesirable vendors over a million/2 grew to become into via a minimum of a few thing incorrect with the canines. desire your pal gets off, i admire canines and that i might do the comparable ingredient. The canines is extra desirable off and now so are you and your friends

  • Poor pits..they have such a bad rap. i love these dogs and shelters are filled with them. even my small minded family has issues with them...but i love them and hope to own a few rescues at some point. it's hard to find a solution, there are so many complex issues to such a vast problem. People just need to care for their animals properly and stop pet overpopulation. Hopefully more responsible people will start owning pits and make them the great family dog that they are--not the ruthless killer which man has made them;

    ban the deed not the breed. Anyone found guilty of ANY animal cruelty should not be allowed to own any pets. IMO

    ban the incompetent morons who breed these dogs without any knowledge of genetics. Byb's ruin all breeds to make a profit for themselves rather than contribute anything positive to society...
