What are some low-cost SUV's? Need advice from other MOMS!?

My husband and I (expecting in September) are looking to re-finance my Honda Civic for an SUV, however; we don't want to have to spend too much money. We're definitely open to purchasing a used vehicle. What are some SUV's that are already on the lower cost end that we could look into?

Thanks!!

Well, I'm not a mom. But if you like Honda, their CRV and Pilot are good places to start. The RAV-4 is also a good vehicle. These are typically on the smaller end SUV, and then you have crossovers and what not, but they tend to get more expensive.

I am a single mom of 2 with no child support and a part time job! I managed to get a 2005 nissan pathfinder, and i LOVE it and so do my kids. I just told the dealer my situation, told him i'd probably be hard to finance, and told him what my payment ceiling was and he found an suv that suited us perfectly. my interest rate wasn't great, but i needed the vehicle and as long as i take good care of it, which i do, it will be a decent trade in later too.

I have a friend that purchased a Hyundai Santa Fe, she loved it for her kids. Another family friend just got a Honda Pilot. I think both would be affordable. We have always gone with Honda's. they have great resale value and last forever. You could probably find a nice used Pilot. Good luck!

My youngest sons step mother has a Honda Pilot. She's had it now for five years and loves it. I also know of another person who traded her mini van in for the Pilot which I think she has had now for four years. The interior seems big and comfortable and also from what I understand they get good gas mileage too.
