Does Pelosi's involvement with the torture memos explain why Dems do not want to launch an investigation?

It was obvious to me from the moment Obama flip-flopped on the FISA Bill with retroactive immunity that the Dems were also waste deep in the Bush admin's torture program.

Do you think this is why Obama hasn't pursued an investigation into this matter?

Update:

Cid (below) Thnx for the info. I see them on here from time to time.

Update 2:

It could be their way of purging the party of the speaker, who has obviously exercised her influence over Mr. Obama

I STILL laugh at those who call TWO people being water-boarded out of roughly 600 a "torture program". Having known former POWs (Korea, Vietnam, & Iraq)... I don't consider what the US has done to come NEAR to torture (I'm a SERE school graduate).

That ASIDE though, I DO agree with your premise. The Intelligence Committees (House & Senate) were briefed and didn't protest. When word leaked to the PUBLIC, the Liberals ran amok screaming "they didn't KNOW !! How could BUSH do this ??"... as they found their great new "wedge issue" for the 2006 & 2008 elections.

Remember also... it was a RARE Democrat who didn't vote for EVERY Bush budget as long as they could slip in some pork for themselves.

Personally, I don't see the need for an investigation, but bring it forth President Obama... and watch most of the Senior DEM Congressional membership get tangled ALL up in the issues.

I'll echo J. Conservative... I may not agree with you, but you've phrased your query well, with a minimum of partisanship, and listen to the responses. Toss on a star !!

I too am 100% against torture and feel that ANYONE and EVERYONE that was culpable should be held accountable. I had had the feeling that since she "took impeachment off the table" that somehow she would have played a role in the proceedings that would ultimately lead to HER impeachment as well. Time to say "good-bye" to Ms. Pelosi. (and not a minute too soon either) I'm really sick of partisan politics - it is destroying us. The parties have morphed into one, really, there is no difference in their goals and objectives and they have stopped serving the American people and only serve their corporate masters. We need to clean house (and senate!) and vote for 3rd. party candidates. This may be the only way to reclaim our government.

She's is a liar and will survive the onslaught brought on by the torture investigations, especially now that it's being moved into a government committee. By the time they are through investigating a couple of years will have passed and no one will give a rats a** about the so called torture.

I'd like to see the Dems grow a spine on this, call for an independent investigation and let the chips fall where they fall. Party affiliation is truly irrelevant. Right, wrong and the Rule of Law should NOT be politicized, but that's exactly what they're all doing and it's disgusting.

Yes, they will find out there was many contributors to this. At the time, they had to do something! This was considered the most humane way to get the information.

There has been much worse things done to people on Fear Factor, for instance. Watched by millions, and nothing was said!

I'm starting to suspect it is. It also goes a ways in explaining why Pelosi refused to start impeachment proceedings against Bush for war crimes when Bush was still President.

With one known exception, no formal objections were raised by the lawmakers briefed about the harsh methods during the two years in which waterboarding was employed, from 2002 to 2003, said Democrats and Republicans with direct knowledge of the matter.

The lawmakers who held oversight roles during the period included Pelosi and Rep. Jane Harman (D-Calif.) and Sens. Bob Graham (D-Fla.) and John D. Rockefeller IV (D-W.Va.), as well as Rep. Porter J. Goss (R-Fla.) and Sen. Pat Roberts (R-Kan).

It would be a good guess. Also find it odd that Obama released certain documents. Cheney, and others, say that the methods used got valuable Information. Let us see all the documents, are then make an informed decision.

I think that it is very likely. Pelosi, Rockefeller, and Reid were all on the committee that was made aware of what tactics were being used to obtain info from detainees.

I have been one of your biggest critics when it comes to your questions. So to show that I am a man of fairness, you get a star from me.

I don't know where you're getting your information from, but they have been investigating this matter. Didn't you hear that Obama shut down Guantanamo?
