80s Thrash Metal vs 80s Hair Metal vs 80s Doom Metal?

Do you prefer the crazyiness of early Metallica and Slayer?

Or perhaps the awesomeness of Quiet Riot and Dokken?

Or are you one to enjoy Pentagram and Candlemass?

BQ: Favorite band of those 6 I listed?

Update:

Yeah Darth I was gonna include Power Metal, but then I realized that Power was more 90s. Not too many great Power Metal bands of the 80s that I know of.

For me, this one definitely goes to Metallica and Slayer. They are, out of the bands on this list, the one's I listen to the most. I am a big doom metal fan but not as much. And for the hair metal, while I'm not exactly the biggest hair metal fan in the world by any stretch of the imagination I do like Quiet Riot and a few other hair metal bands.

As far as 80's bands go. You actually didn't name my favorite genre of metal that was in the 80's, death metal! Bands like Death and Bolt Thrower. They may have only started in the late 80's but still the 80's.

BQ: Slayer, they beat Metallica for me cause of how heavy they are. I am attracted to heavier kinds of music a lot of the time and Slayer has been consistently heavy throughout the years and Metallica hasn't been as heavy as of late. And, even when Metallica was heavy i don't think they where as heavy as Slayer. Don't get me wrong though, I do love me some Metallica!

I still think that 80s hair metal wins because those guys were able to pack the stadiums. When I see stadiums being packed by today's metal artists then I will hand the baton over to them. Today's metal sound is very diverse and interesting but it does not have the same mass appeal that Guns N Roses or Bon Jovi had.

Out of the 6, Dokken has the most talent, while metallica and quiet riot had a great image

Honestly there isn't a subgenre of Metal born in the 80's I don't love with only one major exception, I can't get into Black Metal much. Otherwise I like some bands from it all.

My faves by subgenre from the 80s

    Hair: Zebra

    Prog: Fate's Warning

    Thrash: Metallica

    Power: Helloween

    Death: Celtic Frost

    NWOBHM: Maiden

    BA: Metallica

Hahahah as most can tell by Mr. Nikki Sixx avatar, I LOVE Hair Metal, yeah sure it sounds too upbeat to be considered Metal by most Metal-Heads, but if you look at what they wrote about, it's pretty freakin heavy, and also, look at the solos and the drum beats!!!!!, that was METAL!!!! back in the 80's cause no ones ever heard anything like it before, so don't judge, cause they could kick your azz in those Stiletto knee highs and STILL get your girlfriend in bed with them.

    I LOVE Quiet Riot!!!!!!!!
