If Atheists don't believe in the supernatural....?

Then why is it that supernatural and spiritually based religions appear to be so intriguing to them? Do they doubt themselves and their beliefs so much that they want to be proved wrong?

Update:

Thank you to those who gave serious answers and for helping clarify the definition of Atheism.

Atheists, by definition, do not believe in anything spiritual/ do not believe in deities. We have no beliefs, therefore we cannot doubt them. Secondly, there's no 'if' about it. If you have doubts on atheism, you are agnostic, not atheist.

    Troll.

Atheism isn't believing in gods, something previous it fairly is all the way down to the guy. even if, as gods are supernatural beings i think of that's distinctly no longer likely any atheist could have self assurance interior the supernatural. regardless of you think of the supernatural is, it maximum fairly isn't unexplained technology. by using definition supernatural skill no longer undertaking to the regulations of nature.

Atheists may or may not believe in the supernatural. Anything other than "no deities" is open to individual understanding.

Personally I think "supernatural" is a false category, created by not having an adequate appreciation of what might fit inside "natural".

And yes, that might include telepathy, ghosts, telekinesis... should solid evidence for any such emerge.

If such things exist they are part of nature, not anything "supernatural".

My interest lies in what *humans* make of beliefs concerning such in their vast variety, and the political and social consequences that often follow.

    "Heresy!" "Burn the witch!"

    edit:

follower_of-Christ42: "He doesn't believe in God but he believes in spirituality. How is that possible?"

Not problematical at all, really, unless one is confined to a particular limited perspective. It's not my viewpoint but I have no difficulty conceiving of it.

    Two points:

    1. There is no necessity for an atheist to reject the existence of all supernatural things. The only requirement for being an atheist is to reject the existence of all deities.

    2. It's that we're interested in religion for its own sake, for most of us the reason we talk about the subject is because we want to eliminate religion and thereby reduce the problems it causes. It's kind of like how you might talk about crime even though you're not a criminal.

Atheism is the disbelief in deities, not the supernatural. Just an FYI there.

You don't see us following these religions, do you? For one thing, I used to be a Christian and I have a LOT of opinions on what I experienced. Also, why do Christians seem to be so obsessed by atheism? All the questions posted in this category to atheists are from Christians. Yet we answer them. Are you questioners of atheists secretly jealous of our freedom of thought?

I think all religions are supernatural and I find it intriguing because I love to explore how we ALL are so truly gullible.

I'm sure that's what you would like to believe, but no, it's not true. We are fascinated by the syndrome called "religiousity." It's like when you go by an accident on the freeway and you just can't help looking at it even if you don't want to. Or something like that...
