Now the government wants to regulate cheerios? Seriously, when will this stop?

I think you are seriously blowing this out of proportion, the Government has rold to play here, someone has to regulate the claims companies make about their products, otherwise they could make all sorts of claims about the benefits of the foods they sell without any scientific proof. Maybe your theory is sound, I might start buying up stacks of asprin pills and sell them as a wonder cure for cancer, I'll be rich!!

They simply require truth in advertising, what is so wrong about protecting the consumer from false claims?

The drug companies who own and operate the FDA, do not allow anyone to cut in on their industry. The sickness business. Anyone who

talks about a cure for anything, will feel the weight of the strong hand

of the American drug companies. Cheerios and all others, will fold

before the money of those who own sickness.

The drug companies own the word diesase, if you use it, you do so at

your peril. Who has more money?

Cheerios cannot claim health benefits that aren't true without false advertising. False advertising is not protected by the Bill of Rights. So they have no right to falsely advertise and they're getting what they deserve IMHO.

It's called truth in advertising. People are tired of being lead down the road of "organic", the road of "if you go blonde, your life will be 100% better" etc.... and that "cheerios will lower your cholesterol and protect your heart "(when it won't, on its own ,do that.)

This is a case of unproven benefits being advertised. They are not trying to regulate Cheerios as a drug, they are trying to limit things that are not drugs being touted as working like a drug, anyways I still don't know why anyone would eat them they taste like the box they come in.

As my Doctor says that Cheerios is nothing more then empty calories.
