These guys are unbelievable, I actually have been listening to this album quite a bit the past week. My favorite songs are Old Thunder, The Pacific, and The Sermon. Ahab puts out a unique atmosphere, its very dark and foreboding yet very epic, of course with that nautical twist to it. I agree with you: it is a masterpiece, possibly the best concept doom album known to mankind.

Nice call, and it's strange that you mention them because I have been listening to them alot recently.

edit: they are coming out with a new album? oh yeah, i will now be on the lookout! :)

I'm not normally into the funeral Doom...i think i like the speed in metal, but this is pretty good stuff. Below The Sun is a really good song

    thanks

** I have some Nortt, but actually like this better. Nortt is abit too Ambient/atmospheric for me

Not a huge doom fan, but I liked a few funeral doom bands like Shape of Despair, Consummator Est, Catacombs, etc. When I heard about this album, I just had to get it. I mean, Funeral Doom about the ocean, whaling, and Moby Dick? Just amazing!

I absolutely love these guys. I first heard of them when they came to Calgary's Noctis Valkyries Metal Fest and I've been addicted ever since. Nortt is great too, though I haven't heard any Skepticism.
