When tests are taken properly, they are over 99% accurate from one day after a missed period, and ever more accurate a week after a missed period. I'd guess about 1/500 pregnant women would still be getting negative results 18 days past their expectant period. So slim chance.
My guess is you probably ovulated late this cycle, you could still be pregnant, but dates can be off substantially. I'm guessing you aren't charting temperature?
And sorry, what do you mean by "I stood the test up in the cup". When doing a home pregnancy test it is very very important to follow the instructions.

My period was about 28 days late a few months back! I was having what I thought were symptoms and had convinced myself I was pregnant, but as the days passed and I continually got negative hpt's, I knew I wasn't. Cycle can run late and totally throw you off, it happens. If your tests are telling you no at this point, they are probably right. Focus on the next cycle, lots of baby dust to you!

I was once late 17 days and then I got my period. Talk about being let down! I really wanted to be pregnant. I think you should call your obgyn and let them do a blood test. Some woman have a low hcg level and it may not be showing up on the test. Baby Dust to you and Me!
