Terminating unwanted pregnancies in dogs: Mescalin and Alazin?

Before you all get carried away, all my pets are neutered and I am a 1st Year Veterinary Nursing Student; i'm just looking for a bit of help from friends on the Dog Section.

My question is: The drugs we use in my clinic when a female dog has been "caught" I think are called Mescalin and Alazin; I was trying to do some Research on them but i'm not getting much info here online.

I was wondering if anyone knew any alternative names?

Can anyone give me any info them?

Am I even spelling the names correctly?

Is that the same Mescalin that is popularly used as a hallucinogenic drug?

I won't be back in my clinic for a few weeks, but when I am I will read the data sheet. Until then, any help is greatly appreciated.

Update:

Great answers so far thank you.

None of these appear to be the particular drugs I am referrign though, which are administered the day of mating (day zero) then again on day three, then again on day five. So these drugs terminate very early pregnancies

Update 2:

Unstoppable as always: I am Veterianry Student, you think I don't know all that already?? Learn to READ before answering you idiot.

I just found a leaflet that my vet gave me in case I ever needed to abort one of my bitches pregnancies (apparently lots of people are having to do this due to endorsements not being lifted on dogs). I have never had to do this but this is what it says.

A variety of estrogens have previously been recommended and used as treatments for mismating. Two of the most popular formulations have been diethylstilbestrol and estradiol cypionate (ECP). These have been shown to be unsafe for the dog and are now to be avoided.

Prostaglandin F2alpha (PGF, Lutalyse(R), dinoprost tromethamine) is a hormone that induces abortion in many species, including dogs. Because progesterone is necessary throughout gestation for maintenance of pregnancy, PGF-induced death of the corpus luteum leads to termination of pregnancy. PGF also has the ability to stimulate uterine contractions. PGF is administered twice daily, either for 4 days (less than 4 weeks of gestation) or until abortion is complete (after 4 weeks). In the later, case, the ***** should be monitored daily by palpation or ultrasound to evaluate whether abortion has taken place. PGF treatment is an effective treatment for termination of pregnancy in bitches. Properly administered, it is also safe and does not appear to have adverse effects on future reproductive performance of the *****.

There are a few real keys to dog training, whether you are trying to train your dog to come when called, sit, stop barking or any other behavior. Understanding their importance is critical to achieving rapid results that are long lasting and help develop the bond between you and your dog. Read more here https://biturl.im/aUDQM

The first is simple; you must win your dogs mind. If you don't achieve this first then you will be struggling the all the way. When I talk about winning your dogs mind what I really mean is that your dog looks to you for all the decisions. Before you do anything else watch one of the amazing video sites that show you the 5 Golden rules to establishing yourself as the pack leader. If you aren't putting these in place then you are setting yourself up to fail. Just at the crucial point where you really want your dog to listen they will go and do their own thing. For sure your dog may play ball occasionally or even most of the time, you may even have a dog that is obedient 99% of the time, however if you want a dog who always listens to you and does as you ask then you need to win your dogs mind.

The second key to success is to motivate your dog. It is really important that you discover what it is that your dog enjoys both in terms of exercise and play but also in terms of a reward. If you can make the experience enjoyable then you will both achieve more and look forward to training.

Some dogs love to fetch, others love agility, and other dogs simply love obedience training, or swimming out into water and retrieve. At least to start with find out what your dogs love is and help them develop this, what I am saying is work with your dog. The other point to recognize is to make training enjoyable reward your dog.

Long nails can be harbingers for bacteria, especially if they are artificial, but they are good for scratching and starting those little foil wrapped containers which are so hard to get in to.

Before you spend more money on expensive dog trainers or products watch this video first http://onlinedogtraining.enle.info/?9hmP

is all depends on how involved you get with the training as well. A good dog training can retrain or teach most any dogs to behave for them - however unless you yourself take part of the training, establish your hierarchy and rank in your household, the dog may obey the commands of the trainer, and ignore yours as soon as the trainer leaves.

There is something called a pack order in dog behavior, and right now - your dog seems to outrank you. Get her respect, her immediate obedience at all times, and you will solve her problematic behavior, trainer or not. It requires for you to get up and come out of your comfort zone, go back to basic training and for you to actually work the dog and stay on top of her behavior at all time, until your training issue is resolved. This is at times hard to explain - for some folks it must be seen and visualized to be understood.

You need to also understand that some things the trainer may do or suggest, may well go against your grain and may make you feel bad or like you're mean to your dog. Not so the dog though, dogs live for an ordered life, for someone who is in charge, and if that someone is missing, they often feel they need to step in and take over.

F.e. when she nips or growls at visitors - in her mind she puts them into their place, establishes territory and dominance [since in her book you are apparently not], and then she is fine with them. This is totally normal dog behavior if another dog would come to visit, a bit rough housing and posturing in a basically good natured dog, and when the visiting dog acknowledges the higher rank of the "home team", they hang out and play, might peacefully share toys or treats - as long as the ranking order is kept in tact. You can start an immediate dog fight by showing preferred treatment to the underdog and "dizzing" the top ranking dog.

If you're not familiar with the inner workings of dogs in general, a dog trainer may well be your best choice of getting on top of your girls' issues. See if you cannot negotiate price with the trainer, or at least pay for one or two lessons, have her show you how to train your dog and then go from there... If you feel you need more time with the trainer afterwards, you can always decide later on.

Mis-mate drugs are DANGEROUS & expensive.

Anybody who'd allow an unplanned breeding should NOT have intact animals=SPAYING is 100% safe & effective & will prevent any future "accidents".

    No REAL dog-person has "accidents".

    I "know" you are a stubborn pouty UNWILLING-TO-LEARN,know-it-all KID,dear.
