If I remove the rear axles, diff, + drive shaft from my Renault Kangoo Trekka (4x4), will I save fuel? How Muc?
Car is front wheel drive, has a viscous coupling to "kick " rear wheel in on slippy surfaces, never use car off road, so want to limit darg from all the extra bearings, and remove said bits. Will it make a difference to fuel consumption? Currently get about 40mpg, but drive a lot of miles, want to make it better.
The rear axles are independant.

How does 40 mpg compare to the official figures [1]?
Why keep a car with a feature you don't need? Look up the mpg on some other makes/models that fulfill your needs or take your eye, then shop around for one.

not enough to be worth the work. I am not sure if you have a solid axle or independent in the rear but with a solid axle you cant remove the shafts. Also when you run in 2wd is it a front drive or rear? If you really want to do this just remove the drive shaft and nothing else.

Don't bother, the amount of fuel you may save will be so low that its not worth the effort.
Ja.
