Does anyone else think that Matt Cassel...?

Does anyone else think that Matt Cassel is highly overrated and is going to have a big reality check this season now that he doesn't have Wes Welker and Randy Moss to throw to?!?! I feel like I could throw for 400 yards with Welker and Moss as my receivers!!

My argument here is that if you really watch him he never went through his progressions. If his 1st receiver wasn't open, he would either run or throw the ball away. Now in saying that I also understand he is a young q.b. who still has a lot to learn. But I still predict that he's not going to have a good season now that he's not throwing to Welker or Moss.

Brian, lets apply your logic to every good QB..

According to your logic Manning MUST be overrated since he was Wayne and Gonzalez, (had Harrison)..

Brees HAS to be overrated since he has Colston, Bush, Mecheam etc

Cutler has to be overrated since he had Royal and Marshall

To sum it up your logic fails

We'll have to wait and see. He was put into a dream situation last year because of the talent around him. Much like if Manning ever got hurt, his backup Sorgi would be in the same position and probably would put up the same kind of numbers Cassel did in New England. But in Kansas City, he will have not even half the talent that he had while in New England, so I would expect him to have an up and down year, with more down than up.

It's not just losing solid receivers that will hurt him. He'll have to run for his life behind a porous KC O-line, the only real running threat the Chiefs have is disgruntled Larry Johnson, and the team traded one of the best tight ends in the game to Atlanta after last season..

Cassel is not in New England any more and his performance will suffer for it.

It's not just not having Wes Welker and Randy Moss, it's also not having BB tell him what to do. He is over rated. He was put in one of the best systems in the league.

    Matt Cassel = Scott Mitchell

Broke out when replacing a legend, fell short of the playoffs, and became a solid starter, but never a top QB.

  • Yes.... Imagine Drew Brees throwing the ball to them with New Orleans' Texas Tech like offense. He will suck at KC, Bowe will drop every pass and no Tony Gonzalez

If he was the real deal, Billichek would have kept him.

As it turns out, they got a good draft pick and Cassel got a big pay day.

    Rots of ruck, KC....

Congratulations on confirming why so many people believe Tom Brady is overrated. Matt Cassel was traded for a modest price and will have to compete for the starting job, how is that overrated? Big difference between what delusional fans think and what reality is.

Ah and lest I forget the Chiefs have not signed him to a long term contract, they aren't sold on him yet either.
