Is this allowed on a plane?

I was reading the list of what is allowed on the plane for infants and children and it says formula is, but it talks only about the liquid kind. Does anyone know if they allow powdered formula? If so, how much is allowed on the plane?

yes you can, I took mine on a plane when she was 2 months. Get a plastic zip lock baggy, small sandwhich one and put the formula in there, it just has to be in a clear container/bag of some sort so they can see it.

Yes powdered is allowed on the plane. Just make sure when you go through security you don't have a bottle made. Wait until after security to make the bottle.

Also, you can take a whole can of formula on the plane!! Just not premade bottles!!!!

Contact the airline directly if you're planning to travel. I have to say we brought both canned formula and powder (and one prepared bottle of powdered formula) and had no problems whatsoever.

I took 6- 6oz bottles of formula on the plane with us from buffalo-florida.. and we had to go through canadian customs in Ont and they didnt say anything else... they know u will need to have more bottles.. if the plane got grounded you would be stuck with nothing for your baby.. u just have to make sure you go through the proper security line and take the bottles out of the bag when going through xray.. no one said anything to us about having to many bottles.. one of the security just joked with us and told us we may run out.. but hey you can never be to safe..

EDIT... I had it premixed no need to worry.. if you are really worried contact your airline...

  • i called ahead and asked and they told me there was no problem with bringing the powdered kind. to be on the safe side i brought an entire can on powdered formula and bottles filled with hot water wrapped in foil so they stayed warm. i asked if they needed to check the can and they told me no just the bottles which they said were fine for me to have.

Yes they allow powdered formula. I had 2 cans with me and they went through the conveyer belt and they didn't say anything about it. but they did say I couldn't bring his baby wash with me because it was more than 3 oz of liquid.

I had powdered formula when I flew with my son. I had jars of powder packed in my carry on bag and bottles as well. If anyone wants to accuse you of carrying drugs, let them have a taste. I think you are fine with powder.

This was on the Hong Kong International Airport security page:

There is no limit on powder formula that you can bring in your hand baggage and water is available in shops after security and airlines can provide water during the flight.

Yes it is, they might take it and test it. We had a half full bottle going through security, the guard just took it, ran some sort of test then handed it back to us.

i don't see why they would not allow powder, true it can look a lot like drugs but im sure they can have k9 sniff it to be sure it's not drugs.

or because if it organic they do not allow anything that is organic on a plane due to safety and health issues that are from different countrys.
