R&P! Doesn't David Bowie sound *just* like John Lennon in "Lady Stardust"?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkReR89J-gk
I swear he sounds just like John....
This Sunday, I must have listened to every song that David Bowie has ever recorded. A lot of it I didn't care for, but then there was a good bit that I fell in love with. You could really hear a Syd Barrett influence in his early stuff.
MQ: Favorite Bowie song? (That is, if you are not Poppy and have not completely ignored this question) XD

Ah, David Bowie. My first real musical obsession. The first song I eer bought was Life On Mars, you know. He's gorgeous, I love him. The amount of trivia I know on that man. I used to tell my friends that I was going to kidnap his wife (Iman) and marry him. Of course, this was before I got into Queen. The second song I ever bought was Killer Queen, naturally.
I am in love with his album 'The rise and fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars', and, I do agree with your 'he sounds like John Lennon' theory. A few things we should take into consideration, though, are; he was greatly influenced by John Lennon and the Beatles, and all the other great bands and artist from the 50's, 60's, and even early 70's, so it is likely that he copies styles of great artists such as Lennon, or there is a similar kind of sound to his music. Also, he was extremely drugged up throughout this album. He didn't know wether he was David or Ziggy, and, admits it shamefully. He probably can't even remember the recording. Well, maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration, but, still. And, finally, he experimented. What with all the multi coloured hair, nd straight men wearing make up, he didn't know wether he was coming or going. He might have just put a spin on his voice, trying to sound different or cool.
MQ: Ziggy Stardust. I completely fell in love with that song the first time i heard it. I ADORE it. Seriously, listened to it thousands of times; literally I think about two thousand three hundred and something, but i can't be sure.

He kind of does sound like John in a way, but with a deeper voice, kind of.
Life on Mars? is probably my favorite Bowie song.

I see it, but Bowie carries his air a little better. He really defines soul camp with Ziggy and Hunky Dory, whereas Lennon could never put the two together.

I always think the same thing when I listen to it, because he doesn't sound just like him on other songs like Suffragette City and all. Especially the "she knows" and "stepping through the door" parts on Space Oddity too, he sounds almost exactly like him.
MQ: Space Oddity...it's a masterpiece
