Grownups! Good book recommendations?

I've read Nora Roberts, Jennifer Cruisie, all the Oprah's bookclubs (thanx Mom) some Ludlum, WEB Griffin, Agatha Christie so on so forth. Any new authors that knocked your socks off? Looking for stuff on the lighter side. Reading is my TV!

I love Meg Cabot (Heather Wells [upcoming movie]& Queen of Babble [upcoming movie], and tons of others), Sophie Kinsella's (AKA: Madeleine Wickham) (Shopaholic [movie based on her books] & Remember Me), Jennifer Weiner (Good in Bed & Certain Girls), Jane Green (Mr. Maybe) and Emily Giffin (Something Borrowed & Something Blue) books. They are all great authors!

For a young adult/teen Meg Cabot's young adult books. She is the best author. Also best selling. She wrote tons of books including the Princess Diaries (Movies based on her books), Mediator (upcoming movie), 1-800-Missing (TV show based on her books), All-American Girl (up coming movie), Jinx, Airhead and more. She has adult books too, so you can grow with her.

Angels and Demons by Dan Brown

I just started it and it's pretty good so far. IF you are worried it is anti-Christian or something don't be. I am a Christian and have found nothing wrong. After all, it is fiction =] Good luck!

EDIT: I know this may sound silly but the Harry Potter series is great. I am 21 and my mother has read the whole series as well! Really well thought out and enjoyable, much more on the light side than Angels and Demons.

Where's Spot? Spot Goes to School Spot Goes on Holiday Spot's Baby Sister Spot Visits his Grandparents The Little Prince by way of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry is a lovely, robust kid's guide with plenty of morals and hidden meanings. Read it, you will not remorse it.

there are a number of good, even better, books by unpublished authors you might want to sample. Some are posted complete and allow you to interact easily with the author.

You can, of course, post your own work there.

http://www.worthyofpublishing.com/book.asp?book_ID... is a good one by Shiela Mary Taylor, a published author in another genre, looking for a publisher for an English thriller

Mine is Twin Beeches, rural American mystery/history/crime/thriller/fiction story.

There are lots more good ones, some complete, some looking for ideas for the next chapter, etc.

The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini are FANTASTIC. check them out on google as i am terrible at telling plots. the second title in particular will appeal to you more if youre a woman. both made me cry more then any book ever has.

Amy Tan is also a great writer. The Joy Luck Club and The Kitchen God's Wife in particular are wonderful.

    Yes, Harry Potter is awesome!

Robert Jordan and Isaac Asimov are cool. I also really like Brandon Sanderson (he does both adult and children books). Stephen King too, but he's anything but "light." Not sure if I read in the genre you'd be interested in though, based on what you've read so far.

Try the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich. It's hilarious. Very, very good. I got my co worker hooked on it and she's almost finished all 14 books. They're a lot of fun. You may also like the Prey series by John Sandford. Dirty Harry type detective. Excellent! I just finished the Secret Life of Bees which was very good. And my one of my favorite books is Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel. Excellent also.
