My Cats Eyes Look Unhealthy?
I have two adult cats. One is female, and she is 7, and one is male and he is 8. Lately I have noticed that there is a filmy substance over their eyes, but it appears to be a part of their eyes. It's white, and it comes from the bottom of their lids, to half way up the eye ball. They appear to be able to see, because when I waved my finger in front of them their heads and eyes followed it. I do not think that it is doing any damage to their eyes, but I am unsure. And sometimes when they wake up the membrane is gone, it appears sporadically. any help, or knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

Cats have a 3rd eyelid that covers their eyes when they sleep, also called a "haw". It's a semitransparent protective membrane that folds away near their nose when awake. When their eyes are open it should retract. If it isn't, they need to see the vet as it could signal an illness.

They need to see a vet. They are sick and there is nothing you can do for them without medical treatment by a professional. Have them seen ASAP.
