Catering at a Wedding Reception Question?

I was wanting some opinions on what I should serve at my wedding reception..

Choice 1:

Buffet with Spaghetti and meatballs, garlic bread, salad, soft drinks

Choice 2:

Veggie and fruit trays, deli meat sandwiches with condiments, cheeses, a variety of chips, and soft drinks

The price doesn't matter since they are both relatively close, I'm just trying to consider convenience, time, and something everyone would enjoy. Would there be a risk of the spaghetti being too messy? Or the deli idea too informal? I'd greatly appreciate your ideas! Thanks in advance!

Choice 2. The first one sounds a little messy and will give the reception hall a really strong smell. Not sure if that would bother you or not. It's much easier to eat a sandwich or some fruit while you're walking around mingling that a spaghetti and meatball meal. I guess you should also take into account the time of day. Also, not too romantic afterward to kiss your husband after snacking on meatballs and garlic bread lol. I don't think people should complain at all about a light menu. You will be serving cake too and possibly alcohol - you didn't say. I think they will have plenty to eat, and if you display it nicely it's not informal at all.

    Hope this helps =)

Both are rather informal for a wedding, but you could have pasta that is smaller than the typical spaghetti (elbows, rotini, ziti) to keep it less messy for your guests.

As for time, the deli meats would save the most time since someone only needs to open up the trays in order to dig in. The spaghetti would have to be cooked. Although a crock pot would be handy for sauce with the meatballs in it.

I, personally, think that meat and veggie trays would be fine, but I've heard many people say that it's waay too informal for a wedding. On the other hand, do you really want to eat red spaghetti sauce with your expensive white dress on? I definitely wouldn't - I'm messy though! lol Could you do spaghetti but with a white sauce instead? I think that's really elegant anyway! Throw some chicken in there too! hope this helps!

I would pick choice one, but instead of spaghetti pasta, go with mostacholi pasta (like a Baked Mostacholi); Less messy of a meal, but more susbstantial than deli sandwiches.

I would choose the buffet with Spaghetti, but maybe a different type of noodle since Spaghetti noodles tend to be a little messy.

Choice #1 sounds good. How about making it a lasagna buffet? It will be a little easier to eat than spaghetti. I went to a wedding where they had a lasagna buffet and it was very nice. Everyone loves lasagna!

I think choice two is a great idea. Everyone loves a deli! Plus, it provides more variety in what to snack on.

yeah you need to serve the pasta because that's something people have to sit down and eat. sandwiches are not formal enough. see if your caterer can do a pasta bar with different kinds of pasta and sauces, that's a real cool thing I've seen at a few weddings.

it is going to remember on wedding ceremony subject, for informal wedding ceremony disposable plates are stable. For formal or semi-formal wedding ceremony, paper plates are going to thoroughly smash the ambience. basically verify form of disposable plates.
