Does anyone know where to get kids' photo Id's?

I got an email from the airline that my children and I will be using in two weeks and they said my 23 month old needs a photo Id since he has a ticket and seat. I called the DMV to see about getting him a photo ID, and they said they don't do ID's for children under 2. Does anyone know where I can get a photo ID for both children? All the pharmacies I called that do photo developing say they only do passports.

I would call the airline to confirm that information, before you run yourself ragged. I have flown with both my boys (in seats w/tix) and will by flying with them again next month, and I have never needed photo ID for them. Unless you are flying internationally, in which case, you would need passports for them.

If the airline tells you by phone that photo ID is required for your children, I would ask them what they suggest, or what other parents do.

It is very odd that the DMV in your state won't do it but it's even odder that the airline requires a photo ID for an infant.

You best bet is to get a passport for the children, you can also go down to your local police station, many police stations participate in kidnapping prevention services provided by "Project Safe Kids", they will provide your children with a sample of their DNA, a photo ID, a description of the child, and other usful information, they will give you a file to keep at home aswell has keeping a file for themselves. This could solve your problem and provide protection for your children at the same time.

I would also suggest speaking with the Airline in regards to what type of photo ID is acceptable, asking for photoID of a child under 12 years old is against the law, so you may want to look into that further.

I know my local police station does IDs but I'm not sure if its the same thing as our state ID which in your case you can't get. I guess you should just call the airline and explain your predicament. Good luck!

What state do you live in? Maybe you can google "*your state* IDs for children" and figure out how to get one.

Our local Walmart does photo IDs.

I'd contact a photographer in your area who does work for the schools. My kids have them, we got them from their daycare. The same company that does school pictures does them at our daycare twice a year and made them. They have all of the basic information that would be needed (unless you need fingerprints).

I'll star this. I have some pretty smart contacts.

I take a pic of my son with my digital camera every day. That way, if something happens to him, I have a picture of him exactly the way he looked that day, clothing and everything. I know it may seem a bit neurotic, but it makes me feel better. Plus, I download the pics every week, pick the best one and make a "growth" file for him. It's so cute to see how he changes from week to week. :)

I don't know if you have D.A.R.E supporters in your area but they make ID cards and they are around $20. In Texas you can also go to your local police department and they will make one for your child. They also do the fingerprints on your child(ren)...Its very resourceful for them just in case something happens to your child they will have all the information on file. So I would call them first to make sure they do it in your area.
