Have you noticed younger teens making out at the Cinema, to be offensive?

To me, it is bad manners, husband and I went to see Star Trek on Mem. Day evening at 10PM and the cineplex was nearly empty. We were in #1. Costs 8.25 per person to get in. There were about 11 thirteen yr. olds in the theater, 2 pair were making out, 3 boys were making balloons of a birth control item and tossing them around. Another teen was texting. One teen had his size 13 shoes up on top of the seats. No assistant manager. The only person in charge was a teenager. I am sending correspondence to the owner of the chain of theaters because when I go to see a movie, I don't go to see that stuff.

Update:

Some of us learned ettiquette and did not make out in public. Please keep judgements to yourself.

I'm annoyed by anyone making out in public. That's a private matter. . .go home! It's one thing to hold hands and give kisses. . .it's quite another to be licking each others face and groping. And to the other person who answered - the back of a theater isn't private!

If there is a next time - if it was me I wouldn't go back - you should go the the teen in charge and explain what your expectations are. You expect him/her to have the behavior stop or remove the people creating a disturbance. If he/she is unable to comply with that request, then you want your money back and leave. If you did both of those, then you should not only write the letter to the owner, but request a meeting in person and request that the person in charge be fired. Obviously, he/she is incapable of handling the job.

Geez.....when you pay that kind of price per person, you should not have to put up with that stuff. I do understand that it's nice to get out of the house once in a while, but because of that reason, that's why we don't go out much to the theater (especially the late night hours). We would rather stay home, maybe have friends over and watch a DVD, have popcorn and enjoy a quiet evening and not spend too much money. Anything is better than putting up with that. Glad you are sending correspondence to the owner of the chain of theaters. Excellent idea.

You would be better off contacting the manager of that particular theatre rather than contacting the owner of the chain of theatres. Who knows how long it would take to get an answer from the owner. If you talk to the manager he can be made aware that the person in charge that night wasn't doing the job he is paid for. There will always be inappropriate behaviour in a theatre and it is up to the person working there to tell them to stop or they will have to leave. I've been to many movies and rarely do I experience what you did. Of course there are always couples making out but if someone has their feet on the back of your chair if they don't remove them after you ask then it is up to the person working there to do something about it. You just got unlucky that you ended up at a movie with a large group of 13 year olds who were acting silly. Throwing balloons made out of condoms is disruptive as well...just talk to the manager and if they don't resolve the issue to your satisfaction then write the owner.

Making out doesn't bother me. I just chuckle and remember the good old days. Kids who don't know how to act in public get on my nerves.

Even though I am only in 8th grade myself, I think it's actually tactless. It ticks me off when people my age do that, it makes it hard to enjoy an outing to the movies. | _ | So yes I find it a little offensive, mostly because I was tooken to a lot of Dramas when I was younger so I learned that there is etiquette for the theatre, so yeah.

The only thing I want to know is who'd want to make-out while watching Star Trek. ^ _ ^'

Sounds fine to me if the management is not objecting I would not go back if I were offended.

Sounds like the kind of theater that caters to that behavior in as much as there were no moral police around to intervene.

I can remember making out in the movies! Not at 13 but def by 15/16/17. We all did. But we were quiet and didn't disturb anyone.

The make out part has been done since the beginning of theaters. The rest was disruptive and you have a right to re-act. I want your money refunded.

I would be pissed to say the least! When we go to the cinema I have not seen that at all and would probably go tell the attendants about it before it went on very long.
