A few questions about the game?

A. Isnt fighting and getting rough part of hockey? I thought it was, but with so many ppl here getting upset I might have to reconsider that.

B. Whos worse: A) Sore winners B) Sore losers

C. Should the refs never allow teams to just play and instead call everything by the book? They are just giving the losing team a reason to whine, even though they let as many penalties go for BOTH sides (Im sure a lot of Wing fans will agree with this until they lose).

Definitely. The refs are really letting these teams play... and I love it. I'm so sick of watching games with like 5 pp's per period. It is interesting to me that every time Detroit "gets away with" interference, the NBC guys are always quick to point out that they are adept at it and deserve penalties, but when Pittsburgh does it, there usually is no mention of it. All I ask for with the refereeing is that it is consistent, and it has been. Both teams have gotten away with a lot of subtle little interferences. Pittsburgh does a great job just getting in the way of forecheckers also. I'm glad they aren't calling every little chintzy thing. I don't think any team has the right to whine about anything penalty-wise. Not counting the worthless 5 on 3 at the end of Game 2, the Pens have had only 2 minor penalties that have resulted in Detroit power plays. They also had a game 7 against Washington with no penalties against. They really can't complain.

As far as the Filppula goal and the Pens player's stick being broken by Hossa... it really didn't look like Hossa slashed him. Of course there was never any real good angle shown so it was hard to see. I'm not saying it wasn't a slash, but if it was it was not a hard slash. I think it broke because of Hossa's stick lift.

The end of the game was nothing new to the Red Wings. They are used to it. They won't initiate much, but they will stand up for themselves. The only thing I didn't like there was the "spear" by Talbot (I think it was him) on Osgood. But he's just doing what he needs to do. The reaction by the Wings was just what they needed to do. Then Malkin coming in... that's hockey. You stand up for your teammates. He's not going to get Hank off his game with that kind of stuff, but he's got to try. Malkin and Crosby have played well, but Detroit has been content to use their best offensive guys (who are their best defensive guys as well) to neutralize those two. They then are relying on their third and fourth lines to take over. This is why the Pens are outshooting the Wings. So far it has worked for Detroit, but the real test comes when they don't have the last change.

    A. Hell yeah, im a pens fan but i love how the series has been PLAYED,so far just dont like the results. Wings are getting the breaks and bounces right now, but the Pens need to CREATE their breaks cuz detroit is to smart and good to give em to you.

    B. depends on what side your on, both are pretty damn annoying

    C. I personally love how the refs are calling the series, this is hockey, this is the stanley cup final, let the boys play. i hate it in any sport when the refs dictate the game and call all the sissy fouls. If its obvious and or dangerous call it, if not let it go.

    GO PENS

    A. Malkin supposedly initiated the fight (didn't see it myself, missed the third period), which irritated Wings fans. Normally, people enjoy watching rough stuff and fighting.

    B. If your team lost the game, you hate sore winners. If your team won the game, you can't stand sore losers. Looking at the two sides of fans from an impartial perspective, the arrogance of the Detroit fans is a little more annoying to me. Probably because I believe that the Penguins fans possibly have a case on a couple calls (Zetterberg covering the puck with his glove in the crease in game 1, the hook in Dupuis leading to the Filppula goal today).

    C. That's a tough call. You hate to see little hooking and slashing calls in games this important where a powerplay goal can decide a series, but you also hate when a little hook or slash leads (non-call) leads to a scoring opportunity or goal. I think that they should call it by the book, anything borderline, or close to borderline, don't call.

    A) Fighting is a part of hockey. Cheap shots, are not.

    B) Sore Winners.

    C) No, the refs are doing fine. Of course, I am a Red Wings fan and every Pens fan will probably say they should, but if they did those fans would realize that they would be penalized more if every call was made.
