Christians and atheists, do you agree?

The existence of an omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent God, and the existence of post-modernity are two mutually exclusive concepts. If God exists, then we all still have grand narratives, so we would still live in a modernist universe.

If given the choice, who would choose modernity over post-modernity? Who? Even if you had faith in God, post-modernity is definitely the better option.

So why choose God, when you can choose post-modernity?

Update:

Herer kitty kat, I don't think you understand what I mean. At all. Post modernity doesn't mean technological.

We can both agree that god never had a beginning, even if god never got started.

Yes a god of some kind can exist even in the face of modernity. Although it would appear to be a rather benign god. though i would have to say that an omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent God could not exist.

No, God an postmodernity aren't mutually exclusive. God and Illuminism thinking we mutually exclusive. Why? Because Illuminism aimed to curb superstition and offer a philosophical alternative to supernatural where science could offer absolute answers.

Like you also said, If God exists, we would live in a modernist universe but postmodernity doesn't cancel modernism, it extends it.

What do we get, for example, in postmodernity? Heisenberg incertitude principle, Einstein's relativity and quantum theory. Heisenberg's incertitude, what does it say? You can't known a particle's position an energy. The more you know of one, the less you know of the other.

It's a fundamental theory which makes room for God. What if it's human condition that makes this knowledge impossible. What if divinity can be defined using Heisenber's incetitude? God is that who knows both a particle's position and its energy, by definition, since God is all-knowing.

Postmodernity subtly changes and expands God, but it actually brings God back into play instead of excluding it, because it also says: there are things beyond current human knowledge. Then we can say: yes, there are things which are beyond human knowledge, those things can be said to be divine. We as human try to approach divinity by expanding our knowledge.

Post-modernity is a useless word. It's so wishy-washy and vague that it's impossible to use with any degree of precision. If you try to rephrase your question in a way that's more clear-cut, then you'll get better answers.

    Simple little fact here....

    God does not exist.

    Sick of these questions.

I don't see however how postmodernity has anything to do with faith in God. I live in a postmodernist world and I sure as hell don't follow the rules to a book.

You went over their heads...it's enough to know there's no reason to believe that any form of mythology is truth, including all religions that people believe in today, and sadly those that people will believe in the future.

I think your talking to a more or less 5th grade audience pal.

And yes, I would choose that post-moderwhatchamacallit one.

Even if God doesn't exist, I like the idea of a life with purpose, truth, and meaning.

Let's fire up The Large Hadron Collider and see if we can find The God particle.

    "If God exists"

Invisible space monkeys ONLY exist in teh imaginations of needy, whiny little cowards who need to hold hands with imaginary friends.
