running ab-chest-side pains?
when you run are you supposed to take deep breaths cause i usually run 4-6 miles on my running days (im a swimmer so i kinda suck at running i know 4-6 miles isnt much) but i inhale and exhale slowly and take deep breaths but at about 3 miles my abs/chest/side/lower torso feel like their on fire and have been nailed by a giant mace(btw i dont want to know what that would really feel like...owwww...:(..) but anyway is their any breathing method i can use to stop this cause it makes the last few miles really annoying.

Breath naturally but you do need inhale and exhale properly. Taking deep breaths are good but here are the reasons for your cramps;
It is from cramps. The cramps come form lactic acid fermentation, this is something that occurs when your muscles aren't taking in enough oxygen. When this occurs your body is not performing glycolisys which is the natural way your muscles take in oxygen, the right way. It can also be from over straining your diaphragm.You can get rid of them when it happens by blowing out all of your oxygen and when it stops coming out keep blowing for a few seconds and then catch your breath. Do it a couple more times and you will be good. This stretches out your diaphragm. You can solve the lactic acid problem by taking in plenty of air. Hope this takes care of it.

sounds like cramps/side stitches.. a lot of people get this when they first start running..I did too...
Some things that might help:
1) Make sure you are properly hydrated before your run by sipping water at intervals before your run...don't gulp down a whole lot of water just before you start your run because that could make things worse!
2) Don't eat anything for at least a couple of hours before the run...
Make sure you breathe properly and that you keep breathing throughout your run... look up some breathing techniques for running on the Internet...some people say you should actually be breathing through your mouth while running but probably check this up to make sure if it is right before you give it a go...
3) one important thing I found that stopped the cramps was to make sure my posture is correct ...make sure your stomach is sucked in, back straight, head up, eyes on the horizon, shoulders relaxed and arms at ninety degree angles by your sides and never crossing over your chest. When you come down on your feet, come down on the ball of your foot before rolling to your toes rather than on your toes or heels...
4) If you have a side stitch, you need to alter your breathing pattern to get rid of it, take a deep breath, hold a couple of secs, then exhale forcibly through pursed lips.

if it is sideaches then that means your dehydrated
if its your muscles that are hurting then try stretching them out before you run... and warm up first. u dont wanna strain a muscle
for breathing, your exhale and inhale should match with your steps... i think
im not sure but thats what people have taught me... and try to make it comfortable and not a pain in the @ss to breathe
