Why did Michelle Obama go home following her visit to France?

It is true that Turkey is a secular country and that Mrs. Obama is considered a working mom. That being said, I find Humanist's snide remark regarding Christians to be the height of bigotry. You should be ashamed of yourself. Regarding the Obama family faith, that is between them and their God. Do I believe he is a closet Muslim? It is certainly within the realm of possibility, and if it is true, it is then a valid reason to question his motives and actions, and by extension, Michelle's.

Consider this, in addition to the fact that Turkey does not operate under Sharia law. There is a press corp that travels with the president wherever he goes. That press corp includes a bunch of women. So why wouldn't the first lady be able to go where female reporters couldn't?

Although Turkey has no official state religion, it is 99% Muslim. And they would probably frown on bare arms.

Her presence is not required at state meetings. Obama was elected president and is accountable for his actions. Mrs. Obama's main obligation is not to make news.
