It is a very versatile branch in engineering.Mechanical engineers are required in all fields, all disciplines in almost all factories. They will not be jobless at any point of time. There is good demand even during this recession.

Railways, space, electrical, electronics, auto, heavy engg, and even in FMCG they are required.

Unless you have special aptitude for some other branch,Mechanical Engineering is the best.Good Luck

Mech. Eng. Subjects include: mechanics (of solid/deformable bodies), thermodynamics, PDEs, materials engineering, design, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer.

You can get a job as a mechanical engineer working at an aircraft, car, train company. Really, anything with mechanical systems in it was made by a mechanical engineer.
