Is the media making things worse for the Gosselins,?

than they really are? Some female commentator last week started that BS about how the kids are being exploited and now THAT has become the new issue. I wish they'd leave that family alone.

I think if you say that about those children, then you might as well say that about ALL children on the large & small screen. I mean, what about the Duggars with their 18; Little People, Big World, especially their son who is also a little people; and what about the Olsen girls who started as babies or the boy on 2-1/2 Men? You know Raven Symone was put on the screen as a pre-schooler too. Child ACTORS are conciously exploited by the adults around them. But these children are doing better than most, and seem pretty well adjusted.

I think the media is one of the top contributors to their struggling marriage. If people would just leave them alone, and let them try their best to make the marriage work, than things might not be so bad. I don't even watch Jon and Kate + Eight.. but, I've seen so much crap about them on TV. All this publicity is ruining that whole family. It's so sad.

I agree with what you said about them applying that same logic to the kids of "18 Kids and Counting", "Table for 12" and any other reality show that focuses on the kids or the size of the family. I agree that the media is making things worse for the Gosselin's but they had to have seen this coming. The show started out with the idea that viewers could relate to them. That they were just an ordinary family with an extraordinary amount of children and it was interesting to watch them tackle everyday life. But when Emmeril knocks on your door to cook you and your family dinner, and your birthday cake is made by the Ace of Cakes, and you live in a 1.2 million dollar home, and you get free vacations and free clothes, you are no longer a relatable family, now you are celebrities. I think the media is making it worse but at the end of the day the only people who can stop this are Jon and Kate by throwing up their hands and saying, "we have to do what's best for our family and what's best is taking the cameras away and going back to a normal life." Until that happens, the Gosselin's are just as much to blame.

I think you might be overreacting. But I do think that the show has made things worse for the family. Their marriage will probably end, their show will likely be cancelled, and the fact that kids are involved is really sad.

But when you do a reality show, keep in mind that the cameras are always rolling. You're seen at your best, and at your worst. So I think that the show has had its ups and downs for the entire family.

In the future, like Jon said, the kids will google him and find out about all this, and that is just upsetting.

What is the difference between the media following them around as opposed to the TLC camera crew? Oh right, the media isn't paying them big $$ like TLC is!

No it's not making it worse; it's bringing to light what a lot of people knew about them for years, it's now just available to those without internet.

Check out Gosselins without Pity for the real truth. IMDB message boards reveal a lot about this sham of a family too!

    Source(s): Get them off tv!

Kate is the one making it worse all the way around. Her big mouth, and general bad attitude has made things worse for Jon and the kids. The common denominator on this, and any other show concerning kids is greed and money.

I agree I do feel that they are being singled out.I just saw a preview for a new show that is basically the same thing as the gosselins.A family raising sextuplets.hhhumm wonder where we have seen that before.and we can't forget table for 12 either . so it seems to me if they are going to throw big hissy fits about the kids it should apply to all reality tv kids not just the gosselins. how can things get better if the media is always in their face. yup definitely being singled out.

Thank you, you said it well and what I was thinking about all the other kids we see all the time. Even on the judge shows you'll see kids from time to time and i wonder how they handle the school feedback, no different from what I can see. I think Kate has kicked Jon to the curb and he's staying there. I was appalled when he asked his daughter if she missed him! Waaaaaa! He's the baby of the family and needs to get lost.

The media always does that, they feed the fire for as long as they can! It should all blow over because everyone will get bored with it soon.
