The young and the restless Nikki/Last day on Y&R?

What do you think about this.

Dang, it looks like Auntie Ri Ri and Uncle Paul really ain't playing over at The Young and the Restless! TV Guide Canada's Nelson Branco is reporting talks have completely broken down between the soap and lead diva Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki Newman). The soap has gone so far as to reportedly script an exit for Scott, meanwhile a former co-star tells Branco that Scott fancied herself queen to Ed Scott's king during her hubby's reign as executive producer of the soap!

her last air date would be the first week of July 4_______

Update:

Nikki has been with this Show for 30 years. My sources are saying the reason she quit was not about the money but how they disrespected her and how they didn't ask the men actors on the show to take pay cut but all the female had to. But they are not killing her off or recasting, they are trying to still negotiate with her and hope they can get somewhere.

the Budget Cuts Are Ruining Everything There

The show wouldnt be the same without Nikki's character on the show. Her character has been such an integral part of the show for so many years. I like Nikki and Paul together as a couple. Shes so much better off without the mustache Victor Newman. Victor was always screaming and yelling at her being abusive.... That ship have sailed with Nikki and Victor too many times before. Hopefully the let them stay apart for good this time. I just cant take them back together. Melody Thomas Scott is an excellent actress. Hopefully she and the show will work something out with her contract

  • I would hate to see her go. I don't like it when new people are cast in roles that we are used to seeing someone else in. They did the same thing on ATWT when Martha Byrne quit. I never have gotten used to the "new" Lily, and Y&R would never be the same with a different Nikki...or a different Victor, or a different Mrs. C, or a different Esther. Anyone agree? The writers need to try and give 'em what they ask for. If the actors have stuck it out all these years, then they should be rewarded for it. It's because of the impact that these actors have on us that keeps the show so popular.

They will have to come up with something more exciting than Nikki marrying Paul. What exciting thing can follow this? All the pregnancies are getting me sick. There must be something else for the writers to envision to make this soap interesting. Let's get real. Surprised with all the bed hopping that someone hasn't gotten aids, etc. Good way to off someone from the show. To save money, let's get rid of Ana, Tyra, (this story line is just plain boring), then Mac and finally Gloria and Jeff as they are getting useless.

I would truly hate to see her go. But I respect Melody and Jess Walton for trying to stand up for themselves. Both of them have been on the show forever and it's not right to ask the women only to take pay cuts. They should make some smaller cuts across the board, even things out a little. Maybe get rid of some of the younger actors/actresses who either can't act or have characters with no story lines. It's disrespectful.

the show said they will likely send Nikki out of town to visit her sister Casey, whose cancer has resurfaced. The writers were planning a Nikki/Paul wedding for May, but that was re-written because negotiations went south. (Hmm... where was that third May wedding, anyway?). Sources tell me that the show is kind of in panic mode and they're re-writing scripts left and right. None of this is confirmed, but I figured I'd pass along what I've heard.

Source(s): But then I read that she swallowed hard, took the cut and signed back on. As long as she was not listed as recurring. But who knows. In this day and age of cutbacks, and such, it is the real world. Shoot, I just got warned, about being overtime at my work. Everyone is on a tight budget

Well she has no other choice but to get the pay cut to keep her job. It may seem unfair but with the economy and her husband not writing for the soap...well what did she expect. The male's not getting a pay cut sounds unfair as well and maybe the women in the soap should speak up about it.

I hope they can work something out. I can't ever picture someone else being Nikki and I'd hate to see her character leave.

Maybe her and Paul could go on a year long honeymoon and then hopefully bring them back in the future.

frankly the writing on the show has gotten so corny that i'm surprised the vets like victor, catherine, jill, jack and ashley haven't quit. the vets like nikki and the others are well taken care of so if they left, financially they'd probably be ok.

melody scott has been there for a long time and she's one of the characters that made the show so entertaining, but if she feels she needs to leave, i can't blame her.
