When potty training a toddler what do you think works best? Pull ups or underwear?
I have been told that going straight from diapers to underwear for potty training is the best way because with the pull-ups it confuses the child and it is too similar to diapers. Have anyone experienced this? Any suggestions are helpful.
Thanks everyone for your responses! i think i will go with the underwear cus the pull-ups are so not working.

Pull Ups are useless. They're the same material as diapers, so kids don't feel the difference. Some swear by the "cool alert" pull ups, but those are useless, too. All they do is train your child to know they already went pee once it's come out. It doesn't do anything to prevent the pee in the first place. Go straight from diapers to undies, then use diapers/pull ups at night only.

My sisters and I were potty trained without pull ups and all three only took a week or two to get compeletly trained. Come to think of it, I've never even babysat a kid who was in pull ups while being potty trained and I'm the primary sitter for five kids since they were born and are now between 3-8 years old.

I can't say I tried pull-ups because I was afraid they would be too much like diapers and my son wouldn't understand the difference. I did put my son in underwear right away, and it is more difficult. I've done lots of laundry since starting, but it only really took him 2 or 3 days before accidents were down to a minimum. I think it was because he realized that it was gross to have wet undies. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Hi there, I read your potty question and I understand your frustration!
I used to have a similar problem to yours.. I had a hard time training my toddler to be potty-trained.
I got this book called "Potty Training in 3 Days" (recommended by my pediatrician) and it's amazing! Although they said it takes only 3-days, mine took roughly around 4-days. But it's amazing how quick he have learnt! I recommended this to my friends and they were amazed too!
Here's the book that I recommend:

Neither. Running around naked in the backyard is best. Just leave the potty training seat next to your patio door.

You should just go straight to underwear. Pull-ups are useless.
