Which active MLB player(s), if any, will surpass 6,000 total bases?

Only 3 players in MLB History have gotten over 6,000 total bases (Aaron, Musial & Mays), with Bonds coming up 24 short. Will any current player(s) join this elite list?

    Actually reached 6000+ TB:

    1. Aaron 6856

    2. Musial 6134

    3. Mays 6066

    Fell short:

    4. Bonds 5976

    5. Cobb 5854

    6. Ruth 5793

etc: Rose, Yaz, Murray, Palmeiro, F.Robby, Winfield, Ripken, Junior (active), Speaker, Gerhig, Brett, Ott, here we drop below 5000, Foxx, Ted, Honus, Molitor, Kaline, Reggie, Hawk, and that's the top 25.

    Obviously, difficult.

Griffey? Forget it. He's not close.

    Second place, active? Sheffield. No.

Third -- ARod. Almost 4600. Good chance.

    Fourth -- Ramirez. Not likely.

Next guy younger than 35 -- Vlad. Mid-3800s. Maybe, but doubt it.

Next young guy -- Andruw. Almost 3300. Not promising, but if his renaissance is real, could happen.

And finally, the one we've been waiting for -- Prince Al. Days away from 3000, and still only 29. That's still a long way to go, on the cusp of reaching the halfway mark, but he's been amazing so far. Could set a bunch of records before he's done.

I would pin realistic chances on Rodriguez and Pujols. The next highest player, 29 or younger, is Dunn, just over 2100. So there's no one else, yet, who merits any attention on this topic.

Jamie Carroll Cory Sulivan <3 Ryan Spilbourghs Brad Hawpe 2 Clint Hurdle nevertheless protecting out for Troy :(

  • if he maintains his numbers, stays healthy, and has some longevity in the sport, pujols is the only (established one) on any active roster today that i see that can do it. there are a lot of young guys in the majors right now that might be able to do it, but it's too early in their careers for me to be able to say for sure.

    Who else but Prince Albert...

There's a good bet he's a contender when we're talking about an elite hitting group.

It would have to be a guy who hits for average and power.

I would have to choose Albert Pujols. He's almost halfway there (2987 total bases) in just 8-1/3 seasons. He's a machine. He doesn't steal many bases (52 career) but his power numbers will make up for that shortcoming.

I think Ian Kinsler or Carl Crawford. Some fast little dudes.
