Wil my laptop be able to run sims 3 smoothly?
I'm not sure if i asked this question already and i can't look at my questions for some reason so im going to post it again =)
The requirements for sims 3 are
- Windows Vista (Service Pack 1)
- 2.4 GHz P4 processor or equivalent
- 1.5 GB RAM
- At least 6.5 GB of hard drive space
- 128 MB Video Card with support for Pixel Shader 2.0
These are mine
Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo CPU 1.66 GHZ
1.00gb RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 8400M G
If i get a 0.5 RAM upgrade will it be able to run it smoothly?

You should be ok if you upgrade to 2 GB of RAM. Your processor is a little slow, but it is above the minimum requirement, so don't worry too much. Your video is fine for the game as well. RAM is cheap, so go for it. Sell your old 1 GB RAM on ebay...

It's a dedicated video card, so your video card is fine. You just need more RAM. With a simple RAM upgrade it should be able to run Sims 3 just fine. Note: your Core Duo is faster than a P4 @ 2.4GHz, so you're all good there.

why get a ram upgrade when you can use a flash drive cache vista supports those and you can do it for free if you have a decent flash drive. Your video card does seem to be able to handle it though as it displays shaders up to 4.0 and DirectX up to 10. However I am worried about your processor it isn't even near what it needs to be to run this game.

Sorry, but it will not be able to run it smoothly. Even with another 0.5GB of RAM your processor is very slow and your video card isn't the greatest. You may be able to run it on the lowest settings but don't expect to achieve high frame rates.

your computer can play it, buy you might have to turn down some settings. extra memory will not help very much with gaming, it is mostly the graphics card that will make the biggest difference. you might want to upgrade the ram anyway, because you will get a general performance boost.

upgrade to 2 gig ram if poss as its always better to have a bit more. not sure about the graphics card, if your sims 3 shuts down and gives you a message about display then your card is not up to the task.

you don't need 0.5GB of RAM if you run sims 3 only, no other task
it's better if you add 0.5 GB at least, good luck

Your CPU is a bit slow and you need at least 3gbGB
Vista needs 1gb for itself and the game will need about 2gb for good performance

No it won't
