Why does everyone feel the need to ask these questions?

I've been looking through these questions, and frankly, I'm disappointed. Most of them are fact-based questions which can be easily found on Google or Wikipedia. And yet, for some reason, people feel the need to post a Y!Answers question about Miley Cyrus' new song, or about a simple Algebra problem, or even translating English to French.

I've no idea why, is it because the general populace is too lazy to search through a couple links on Google, or because they just don't know how? It actually bothers me a lot; there really ought be more opinion-worthy questions, and less 'give me the factual answer which I could find through a simple Google search'-type of question.

Virtual penny (2 points) for your thoughts, everyone?

Just to put themselves or their question "out there".

I completely agree. Someone asked the other day how old one of the Jonas Brothers is and when his birthday is. I've never listened to the Jones Brothers, but I could find the answer by looking it up on Wikipedia. Why couldn't the person do that herself? It bugs me too.

I know, that's what this link is for: http://www.lmgtfy.com/

In some questions though people really do give their opinion, or give out knowledge based on their personal experiences, which can't be found online. This happens more in certain categories e.g. the dating ones, cooking ones, parenting ones.

some people don't know it's there, like translation sites, some people never heard of any sites like them. The point is that they trust the answers community to know instead of google, but you know they do have a price of 5 points to ask a question. It is not my job to judge anybody, I am not going to say they are dumb.
