  • Is it even possible I will get my tax refund by direct deposit on President's Day which is a banking holiday?

Although I worked in banking for year so much has changed. I am finally supposed to get my refund but wondering if it would even be possible for that to happen on a banking holiday?

  • Is it appropriate to ask Yoga Trainer what at home DVD I could do?

I take a local Yoga Class only once a week (that's all she offers here) Although she gives 2 other classes in another town, that is not feasible for me. Is it appropriate to ask her what DVD I might buy to use at home on other days, or is it offensive that I am wanting to do it for free in my home? She is a nice lady and does great classes, but I want to do this same low impact, beginner yoga at home too.

  • How is the W2 cut off date determined?

I mean not when does the employer have to have it to you, but say when you are last paid on Dec 25 for the week period ending Dec 19, that is the last time you would be paid in this year. Is that what the W2 is based on, or is it based on the next payroll run, that would be the last period paid for 2015.

  • WMR page notes it has not been updated since Febr. 6?

This info was provided by another member in relation to where's my refund. I did see what he is saying, if you go to where's my refund on the right it notes this page's last update was 2-6. Does that mean that actual page, and not the info retrieved through the link? Or is it truly not updated very day?

  • I need idea/s for a cool personalized license plate for a 1971 Chevy Monte Carlo?

Want to surprise my husband with personalized plates as a gift, but the few we came up with are already taken, such as: KOOL71, COOL71, plus we can only have 6 characters in our state. Please, suggestions?

  • How do I get my husband to ask his own parents the tough stuff?

I have been through the death of my own father, following 5 yr battle with congestive heart failure, fear my mother could lose all their assets if he needed nursing care and ending with in home hospice death, since then establishing a trust. Then my grandma went into nursing home, just due to aging and inability to remain home alone, and she died. All of what we have been through makes you realize you do need the wishes, arrangements and even financial status of loved one (parents, grandparents) known and understood. My husband is not that close with his parents, but these issues do need to be discussed. His brother is supposedly their executor, a brother that has a less stable home life (divorced, lives with soc sec disabled partner, & we get collection calls for this brother). How do you approach a needed, but awkward conversation?

  • Do you think DNA testing is now more accurate?

as opposed to 15 years ago?We are just as sure that my husband did not father a son that is claimed to be his as the test he had taken almost 15 years ago at 99%. Meaning were 99% sure he's not. It was done in a neighboring town, mailed out of state to a lab, results back in about 3 weeks, the mother and child originally refused to show, until threatened with court contempt, so the specimens were taken 10 days apart from my husband's. It came back as a form letter at 99% that he could not be excluded among general population as the father. Child support, etc, all under the bridge as "child" is 22. Just wonder if you think DNA testing has come further and would be more accurate today? I know 99% is accurate, but just feel it was done in a massive lab, kind of a factory setting, also know that this lab had a venue for nation wide DNA testing to prove fathers were as such, so then makes you wonder if they were after quantity, nailing a father and not accuracy.

  • Is 13% a good or bad interest rate on a bank mastercard?

We have an ok fico score, ok income and do pay our bills/debts on time. I recently paid off and closed 6-7 credit cards, as we did a debt snowball payment plan. We kept one mastercard, which is through our own bank, and has a decent credit limit in case of emergency. It is at 13% and yesterday when I called and asked for a formal request to negotiate that down, due to our longevity, payment history and that we have no debt now, except our mortgage, they said no.

  • Would you finally cut off friend?

I have a female friend, that in our childhood to teen, was actually a very good friend. She is married, lives in another state, has 3 children, 2 of them are adults, and she is living in a "loveless" marriage where they supposedly have an understanding and stay together for financial convenience. She has claimed for years that they are divorcing, they never do, and both have outside the marriage relationships. One of her current relationships is coincidentally a man we both went to elementary and jr. high with, who also claims he is in the same marital situation, excluding kids (he has none), he too lives in another state. They have been driving and even flying back and forth meeting. His mother is even friends with my own mother, as we (me, my own mother and the male cheater's mother) live in the same rural town. So, as I have never appreciated, nor agreed with my female friend's lifestyle, now that I have to hear of their adventures through his mother, it is becoming even weirder. I haven't physically seen my female friend in years, but we did always call, text, email and years ago mailed actual cards and letters (before internet). I am so disappointed in her I am ready to just let what friendship we had go. I guess I don't have as much ill will towards him as he has no children. So, would you continue what friendship we have? I haven't contacted her in any manner in weeks. She texted me today and asked what I've been up to, I never replied.

  • Filing tax return or not?

My deceased father's step mother (so my step grandmother) is in her 90s. She went from an apartment to a nursing facility in May 2011. She has social security income, rolled 2 CDs into her checking when she went to nursing home and has since used all her money paying nursing home. She will soon be on medicaid, that not being my issue. My issue is not only has she quit cooperating physically and mentally, of her own choosing, we do not know how many more times to ask her about filing her taxes, or just give it up. She won't offer any bank 1099s and we assume the social security income is non taxable anyway. We are not her blood relatives (myself, my mom and my sisters), she has none, so we are thinking there's no legal repercussions on us. We do not know what to do about her taxes. Keep pressing her or just let it go?
