sleeping patterns in a toddler?

sleeps only 11 hours a night. From what I have read and been told the normal for a toddler is around 13 hours a day. She is not getting this as she REFUSES to take naps and sleep from 8 to 7 on most days if not less. Is this normal, is this OK.

Update:

She is almost 2 and refuses to take her naps even though she is rubbing her eves and cranky.

Every child is different, and then, there's a huge difference between a 15mo toddler and a 3yo toddler as well... you didn't say how old she is. My 21mo is beginning to refuse naps very often now... he naps on average something like 1.5 hours every other day, and sleeps something like 12 hours at night most days (but it varies, some days it's 11, others it can be 13).

As long as she doesn't seem way cranky and tired she should be fine. Lying down next to her to nap (pretend to be asleep) might help encourage her to nap for a few more months... personally I really loved the naps for my own sanity!

EDIT: in that case, how long do you try to get her to take her nap? Sometimes I'll lie down with Gene for half an hour before he falls asleep. Making the room perfectly dark also helps. And maybe you're putting her down to nap too late... once kids get overly tired they're sometimes harder to get to sleep. Or maybe you're trying to get her to nap too early. I know, those last two things are confusing but it can go either way. When I was a kid playing soft, calm music helped me go sleep as well. And make sure she'd had enough to eat and drink. But to be honest, the terrrible twos are the terrible twos for a reason. Kids don't cooperate.
