God recognizes that we are all sinners and not one of us is worthy of heaven. That's why Jesus died once, for all of our sins, even the ones we haven't even committed yet. No one else, including ourselves, could pay the price for salvation.

But to get to heaven you've got to put your trust in Jesus. Paul put it this way in Romans 9:10 ...

That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

Once you've put your trust in Jesus, nothing can keep you out of heaven, not even your own continued sins, because once again, Jesus has already paid the price. In fact once we believe, the Holy Spirit is sealed within us as a deposit for our inheritance in heaven. It says so in Ephesians 1:13-14 ...

And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession—to the praise of his glory.

Nothing you can do, however stupid, however damaging, can keep you out of heaven. But ... BUT ... you must first believe that Jesus Christ is Lord or you haven't got a prayer.

Why is this so? Because God is fair. He wants us to go to heaven but He leaves the choice to us. He won't force His way down our throats. If we trust in Him He promises to take full responsibility for our eternal future. If we choose to trust in ourselves, God has no choice but to allow us to take full responsibility for our own eternal future.

Was it an accidental overdose or on purpose? I can't imagine God judging harshly because someone accidentally took to many tablets.

Was is deliberate? There are those that say all suicide is a ticket to hell but I'm not so convinced? Often people commit suicide because they are depressed. Depression is an illness. It can be healed with help and medication. Would God send someone to Hell for being ill? I wouldn't have thought so. Jesus taught that God is about understanding and forgiveness.

I'm not the best catholic but from what I know If It's a suicide you will not go to heaven. I've also heard that If they are in a great deal of pain and there is no solution then they can still make it. Or they might just spend some time in purgatory before making it to heaven.

    Hope that helps

Scripture says if the christian sins, we have an advocate ....Jesus Christ

When you repent and accept Christ as Lord and Savior, you are in the family.....

This is the power of the blood........to keep you.

Conversely, if the Blood of Jesus Christ cannot cover your sins of past, present, and future, you would need to repent and get saved every 40 seconds for the rest of your life. Such a concept is no where to be found in the scriptures.

Your friends overdose may have been accidental, it may have been intentional (meaning suicide) That is why Jesus is our advocate and the Blood has cleansed his sins .........past....present.........and the last one ......future....(not because I say so, because scripture says so)

There is only one thing that will keep you out of Heaven and that is rejection of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. As long as your friend had accepted Jesus than he is in Heaven. And that is directly stated in the Bible so all this mess about if he committed suicide he will go to hell is just that, mess! God bless you and keep you in this time of grief.

Primoa is correct. Only someone who is saved and is born again will enter Heaven. Once you are saved, you can still backslide. However, God will NEVER forsake you. You will ALWAYS be part of the family.

EDIT: BTW, I am currently dealing with this with a good friend. She used to be a prostitute on heroin. She found faith in prison and went to my bible study religiously for 2 years. She definately is saved. She changed her life around completely and got off drugs and prostitution. She had so much joy, it was amazing. SInce she moved away she never go plugged into a church. My church was the only one she felt comfortable in because everyone knew her past and still accepted her with open arms. Because she never got plugged in, she is now back on drugs. Although she is saved, God forbid, if she died right now of an overdose, I know that someday I will see her in Heaven. She has a beautiful soul. And that is what Satan hates! You see, Satan comes to kill and destroy. He can destroy phyiscal life, but not your soul once it belongs to the Lord! AMEN!

A Christian is a Christian and goes to heaven if he or she has accepted Jesus Christ as lord and savior, nothing else.

The cause of death has no effect on status in heaven.

Salvation is a free gift, not something you must work for.

when everyone dies, we sleep within God. When the time comes, the dead will come first then the alive. He will sit on the throne and one by one we will go to him, and he will list all of our sins. Then he will tell us to either go to heaven or go to hell.

If you have accepted Christ as your savior, you will be saved. Another question would be, Was it an accident? or was it on purpose? no matter if its on accident or purpose, the Lord, our savior, will forgive us if we ask for forgiveness. I hope this answers you question.

If it was an accidental overdose and not intentional and his heart was right with God your friend will be in Heaven.

If it was intentional suicide, then your friend is in God's hands. I've always been taught that suicide is a sin because you are destroying God's temple. I want to give you comforting words at a time like this, so please my advice to you is consult someone that is in the clergy.

Well if that person did it on perpose yes it says not to kill that also means yourself. I am just not to sure how it is. cause it says in the bible if you have taken christian in as your saviour you will surely be saved so if that person was a very good christian in reading the bible stuff like that I would think yes as long as that person did not do it there self

Source(s): I am a group called jezuz. I am part gothic because of the cloths I wear yet I am strong in my belif. many feel that if they are christians they must be perfect yet we r far from perfect and Jesus never said what we can and cant wear. IM me for details!

I believe that if your friend was a really good friend and not like bad all his life then i believe he would go to heaven b cuz god forgives peoples sins if they want him to. And also if your friend believed in god and prayed and did good things then yes he will be waiting for you in Heaven. Hope This Helps! :)
