UH OH,My 3 cats dont seem to be eating much, just moved them from another state by car & recently changed food?
VETS !!!!!!
I have noticed since we got here to our new place about 2 days ago they havent been eating much. It was a 6 hour car ride, is this the reason why they havent eaten??!! There are a few more elements to this also.... 1. My vet recommended a light tranq for the car ride, which I gave to them ... 2) I did mix their old food with the Wellness over a weeks period and right about now it is a full switch....Do they hate the Wellness Core?
Anyone else had any troubles with cats not liking Wellness CORE and, if so, any other equally good alternatives?
If you are a vet or vet's assistant, is this whole move the reason they are not eating?!!!
I've seen some pretty scary answers on here about cats not eating for more than 24 hours........ please help....
I did gradually mix their food from the Iams to the Wellness. I want to feed my cats a 100% grain free diet, so I really dont want to switch back to a food of lesser quality. Its been about three days and they just sniff at the food take a couple of bites and thats it. So in the meantime, Iv been feeding them tuna and cooked beef. Im sure that they really just hate the food, like mostly everyone said.. :)
HOWEVER, I was really wondering if anyone else's cat wouldn't eat Wellness COre, what other grain free foods have they tried??!!
Oh yeah, and i haven't been able to find one of them now for about 2 days...

That's quite a long ride for cats. Their systems are very delicate and can get upset pretty easily. Give them a few days to calm down. Just keep feeding them and give them plenty of fresh water. I hope within the next few days you will see them improve. If not, then I would recommend to call a veterinarian and get them checked out.
edit:
Cat's can and will go for as long as they have too with out eating or drinking. I'm sure it is because of the stress of the move and traveling in the car.
Just keep fresh water out at all times and some food too. When they are ready to eat they will. I'm sure they will be fine and will settle into your new home in no time.
Please..... give us an up-date on your kitty's progress.

i'm not a vet or vet assist. but i have gone through the same issue with my two cats that me and my fiance have . It nothing that you can really do if they don't eat. Its not like they are sick or anything. Its just they need time to get adjusted to the new place. They are still unsure of the place to feel comfortable yet. so i wouldn't worry about it to much. They will come around and eat when they feel comfortable. But as for the food changing maybe you should give it to them alittle bit at a time with the food they are use too. Mix it together for a while then slowly start taking away the food that they are use too and they will eat the food that you want them to have. hope i help

I would say it's the food. We did the same (not from another state) but went from Iams to Friskes. My male cat was fine. The female did nothing but vomit. We were going to take her to the vet but called my husband's sister who is a vet tech and she said it might have been the food change. Once we changed back she was absolutely fine.
You could try in the meantime something like raw egg or canned tuna (a little variety and excitement). My female cat seems to enjoy those just fine.

If you're looking for a vet - shouldn't you be ASKING ONE? Do you really think vets have so little to do with their minimal spare time that they hang out on Yahoo! Answers dispensing advice to strangers? Well sorry - but they don't.
Tranquilizers are NEVER a good idea and a bit negligent of your vet to recommend one. That cat's could be reacting to the medication or they could just not like the food. Try feeding them the food they were eating and then gradually switching in a different one if the one they were eating was a poor quality one.
And CALL A VET - but not the idiot who told you to give them medication.

Put them in a quiet area of the house and bring them out gradually to check out the new place over the course of a week or two. Make sure they have clean litter, fresh water and are comfortable. You may try encouraging them to eat by offering some canned food....and just give them lots of affection and reassurance. If their condition does not improve gradually or worsens...take them to the vet.

Try feeding them their old food and maybe your cats just hate car rides, on the serious note your cat might have hypothyroid so go to the vet right away!

I wouldn't be suprised if it is just the new food. When we changed food before, not to that particular kind, our cats just nosed at it and wouldn't touch it. But by the second day, they were very hungry and caved in and just ate it. Plus, the whole move could of stressed them out a bit.

well first of all ur cats may be scared of the new place.. and all that driving probably made there stomachs upset.. give them a while.. and they will come back to there regular self's.. this has happened to me before..

just get them the regular food. if you can't find it there, they will eat what you give them eventually!
