Any 10 or 12 bolt chevy rear end out of a full size leaf spring truck will work. 1973-1991 are the same body style (1987 chevy trucks change styles but Blazers and Suburbans didn't). What you need to make sure is that you get the same gear ratio that you have in the front differential or you will have to re-gear the rear end after you buy it.

It won't matter as long as the gear ratio is the same front & rear...higher or lower in the replacement diff will lock the front in 4 wd and cause damage. you can put it in 4wd but you'll have a very tough time getting it out of 4wd

The important issue is the gear ratio - it MUST exactly match the gear ratio you're replacing which matches the front differential.
