Nothing really. If someone finds your question interesting they give you a star. They might want to come back later and see the answers you get. Some people use it thinking if they star the question the person will pick them best answer. Friends give friends stars. If you get enough stars your question might appear on the main page. You do not get points for stars. You are not suppose to ask for stars it is against the guidelines. Hope this helps!!!
