    It's different - because Jews believe there are many routes to the divine, and so don't hold that others are 'wrong'. Of course, we do object to rigid ways of viewing our scriptures, as some Christians demonstrate, but there are many others who are respectful of our reading of the Tanakh.

    As far as I understand it, Christians think Mormons are wrong and they're right. That's a very non-Jewish way of seeing things.

    I'm not sure. I think Mormons are wayyyyyyyyy out there because, like you said, made up their own testament tailored to their own needs. As for us (Christians) making up out own testament, well, our New Testament is based on the life of Jesus and then what happened after his death and resurrection. We also use the Jewish (now I'm not up on Jewish stuff, so forgive me if I'm wrong) books (our Old Testament). I believe I have heard that our Christian Old Testament is actually books from the Jewish Torah. Is this correct? So, to answer your question, perhaps Jewish people think the same about us that we think about Mormons. It would only be a fair assumption to assume that and I'm not mad or bitter about it or anything because it may be the truth. I hope you get some better answers then this. I tried my best. Take care and God bless. <><

    What do Christians think of Mormons? I'm an Orthodox Jew and I don't have any particular feelings to Christians in general.

    Pretty much seems that way to me, only Jews are generally nicer to Christians than most other Christians are to Mormons.

    Having *made up* their own testament has very little relevance. Why their own testament led to such oppression and atrocities is more relevant. I don't recall any atrocities committed by Mormons -- other than one incident concerning native Americans.....

    Not really. Jews don't spend time thinking & judging other people's religions. We wind up answering false information about ours constantly that makes us have to answer what was changed for chritianity to develop. But in regular practice --- we don't care. Maybe a Jew here or there does, but not in general.

    No, because Mormons still consider themselves Christian, while Christians do not consider themselves Jewish.

    The difference being that the New Testament confirms the Old;

    the book of Mormon contradicts the word of God

  • Ambivalent said it well.

    Judaism doesn't try to assess or comment on the validity of other people's religions. It's just not our business.
