During Bush vs. Gore back in 2000?

would we have wanted countries like Iran sticking their noses in our electoral problems? Why are some, like McCain, so adamant about speaking out about Iran's internal affairs?

The Supreme Court selected Bush, who are we to say anything about Iran's elections??

Update:

The Supreme Court said to stop the vote count because it would cause "irreputable harm to Bush." Read Justice Steven's dissenting opinion, it's very enlightening.

All I am saying is who do we think we are "policing" the rest of the world?

Update 2:

koalacomics....Have you even read the dissenting opinion on Bush vs. Gore? I'll take that as a no.

Update 3:

The point is....no other countries interfered.

Actually the Supreme Court ruled that we could not go on counting votes until doomsday. Bush won the election, get over it.

Obama is (at least in public) doing the right thing by pursuing a neutral course. The guys that lost this election are not a bunch of western leaning liberals yearning for a burqa free Iran. They are hardliners just as militant as Achmaninejad.

Iran's economy is in the toilet. Nothing makes riots possible like high unemployment. The entire regime is corrupt beyond anything we can imagine. That corruption is what is robbing these people of a better life. That is a lot of what has driven them into the streets.

It's not our fight. We should speak out against and we should condemn the brutality and corruption in the world. But given a choice between backing one corrupt thug or another we gain nothing.

I think what differs is the perception of this election in Iran. I don't exactly remember the peaceful protesters against the Bush/Cheney campaign ever getting tear gassed while marching outside of the Bush Ranch and in Washington. In essence, we should let the electoral process in Iran alone, but we should not idly stand by when the protesters are being attacked by police and militia forces simply because they disagree with the leadership.

The Supreme Court examined the case and made the correct decision after more than 9 days of "recounts" and evidence of clear voter fraud by Democratic workers "counting " the ballots. I saw what the people counting the Florida ballots tried to do They would count over votes (ballots that had more than one presidential candidate) for Gore, then they would count under votes (ballots that didn't have any candidate marked) for Gore. How was this legal? The Iranian Government announced the results of the election 2 hours after the polls closed in an election that was using hand written paper ballots. Do you actually think they were able to do that?

One issue was that the "butterfly ballots" they used in several counties was confusing. Many elderly voters mistakenly voted for Buchanan instead of Gore because the ballots were poorly designed. Another issue was that the hand recounts were never finished - the Supreme Court ordered them to stop for some reason (well, the reason was because 5 of the 9 justices were Republican, and Bush had a slight lead at the time the court ordered the count to stop).

exactly. even the 2004 election can be disputed, and obama's % he won by can be too. the media reported a win in the 60 percentile...but if you actually look at the voting % AFTER all the votes were actually counted, its more like a 54% majority rule. gotta love democracies!

only from the mind of a liberal...lmfao...you forgotten just..."one" small point.

there was no fraud intentional or otherwise in our election. our system is democratic and worked as it should. gore tried to break the law by manufacturing his own results and was stopped.

to compare iran to that is apples and oranges.

    nice try though liberal.

Al Gore thinks he just retired from his second term as president.

John Kerry thinks he is five months into his second term as president.

The opposition candidates in Iran have publicly thanked Obama for not getting involved. Remember, those who are criticizing Obama also thought they would welcome our troops with roses in Iraq.
